(Note: glasses are only for show when she wears them, does not actually need them) Name: Onishi Akari Nickname/Alias: “Red Oni” Age: 14 Gender: Female Appearance: [see image above] Biography: Akari was born into an Academy City family of some wealth, her father being a noted researcher at one of the many labs in the city, and her mother a lab assistant at the same place her father would work at. With a proud tradition of education that had brought her grandparents to Academy City in the first place, the same ideal was placed upon Akari and her four other older siblings in turn. Several of Akari’s elder siblings also were also espers, a thing her parents took pride in, and all of her siblings were considered highly intelligent people. Though whilst she was the “runt of the pack” in her family, Akari proved to be....unique, in more ways than one. From a young age she showed a certain “spark of genius”, as her parents called it. Simply put, she seemed to learn rather well, good on the uptake and called a “genius” from a rather young age in terms of her education. By the age of five she was able to perform complex mathematical equations with little thought involved, a thing that actually surprised her father when he tested her abilities in this area on a whim one night. This high intellect only seemed to be exasperated by the fact that she was found to be a Level 1 esper upon entering the Power Curriculum Program, bearing a rather unique ability at that which only seem to extend her educational capabilities. At the age of 9, she rose to a Level 2 esper. This is where the exponential growth of her ability was first discovered, as her learning capabilities accelerated from here rather notably. By the age of 11, her ability and hard work and talent placed her at the intellectual level of a graduate student with a Doctorate. Further, 3 months after turning 11 she finally achieved Level 3 as an esper. This only seemed to accelerate her learning even beyond this level, as the combination of a “child genius” became astonishing. However, she never was the star, outshone by those who had higher esper levels...especially the infamous “Railgun” who was in her same generation. Though she worked as hard as she could educationally and as an esper, aiming to become a “Level 5” in the latter, her genius was always accredited to “her ability” and “her parents’ money” generally by peers of the same age. Even some adults have assumed that, without just her ability, she wouldn’t be anywhere near her current levels of intellect. This is something Akari has loathed to the furthest of her being, having worked hard to get to where she is and wanting this to be recognized. It wasn’t her fault that she had an ability like this...much less she couldn’t choose how her mind just worked as it had all her life. She loathed it, but at the same time wanted to keep working hard to prove them wrong. Albeit, designing a security system for her dorm room at school did admittedly draw some attention. Especially when part of the carpet did need to be replaced after it was soiled by the poor sap who tried to barge in her room to steal stuff as a prank. She reflects fondly upon the incident, at least. She has also gained the moniker “Red Oni” at school, due to her red hair color resulting in rumors that she “has a terrible temper” of some kind that she supposedly hides. Personality: Akari is someone whose mind and ability in combination has left her somewhat “disconnected” from normal people in a sense, between her mental speed and her resulting educational intellect over the years. While it is something that she has adjusted to for the most part, she also feels some desire to be “acceptable” somewhere and wants to be able to get along with fellow peers. This being said, efforts to be able to seem “normal” for her have paid off well enough, and her usual demeanor overall is calm and collected. Albeit, like anyone else her age and such she can get excited, giddy, flustered, sad.....even a little shy and a little embarrassed when it comes to romance specifically. A bit of a geek, though, she does enjoy learning about certain fields and things such as robotics and computers and lasers, on occasion getting “giggly” about it and rather visibly excited. Yet aside from educational pursuits she does enjoy other things, such as hot baths (her favorite way to relax) and certain comforts such as her favorite blend of coffee (keeps a bit much stashed in her dorm room) or favorite anime to watch. In these things, if one were to see her, she seems very much to fit some standard of “normal” that isn’t some “eccentric nerd with a laser and robot fetish” as she was once called in the past. However, when a situation does get serious, so can she, and when it comes to those close to her she is....”doggedly protective” if she feels she needs to be. Yet if one were on her bad side...well, what is the worst that could happen? No one really has seen the worst come out of her yet, at least publicly. So the rumors about her anger being hidden and ferocious are just stories....right? ...Right? Esper Power:

-Ability Brief Summary-
The power creates various “compartments” in the user’s mind, which are weaker than the user themselves but are specialized at processing, analyzing, calculating, and internalizing information. Secondary results resulted in eidetic memory, and a distinct improvement to reaction time on the user’s part in certain manners. This power in short is a “super learning ability” that makes the user a “living supercomputer” of sorts with incredible mental processing speeds.

-Ability Description and Primary Effect-
-Imagine the human mind as being one large room that forms singular, strong thinking machine that can only process one bit of information at a time (even if able to handle a few things rapid fire at times). This power basically divides up this singular "room" of the mind into many smaller, independent-yet-interconnected "compartments". In other words, it is the “creation of compartments”. These “compartments” can each process information/thoughts in depth in parallel to each other, doing so with incredible, virtually-instantaneous speeds/efficiency. They can even work in groups with each other in parallel, since this would produce exponentially better speed/efficiency overall on the information they are all working on in such a case. Each of these “compartments” are, however, each individually notably “lesser” to the user’s proper “mind” or “main mind” itself. That is, they are lacking proper personality or individuality or such certain complexities. Yet in exchange for these things they lack, they act like “very high speed processing units” which are processing, internalizing, calculating, and also analyzing information constantly for the user. This all in effect results in this power at base being a literal “super learning ability” that allows the user to learn, process, utilize, and recall information at incredible speeds like a “living supercomputer” in a literal sense. Indeed, even complex information can be processed and expanded upon in very short work for this “system” that the mind of the user has overall become. Further, compartments can apply various viewpoints and things such as emotions and logic and equations and such to whatever they are processing or such. -The mind of the user in general takes all of this from the compartments to compile and store away as it is processed and calculated and such by the compartments. It does this at the same speed as these compartments, so overall it can process information to keep up with what’s going on properly. From here the "main mind" of the user is able to just as swiftly access and utilize what information it needs from what’s been stored in the mind (memories). To the user the sensation is unique, like drawing upon something with the greatest ease without having to be thinking hard about/on it at all. Yet if something is important to the user at the time, or is on the user's mind currently, these things influence the information where it is is both internalized (as is normal) and is directly sent to the "main mind" at the same time for faster immediate results.
-Secondary Effects of Ability-
->However, this power has some effect as well on the user’s reaction time when it comes to information gathered via the senses. In the user’s case the process simply happens faster and more efficiently than normal. This means that the user could react to a crying baby or the smell of fire a distinct bit faster than normal human beings, all without having to think hard about it at all. It isn't super senses or super speed, however, just the result of super-fast processing on the nervous system's part allowing for a much more “peak” performance on the user’s part. Something like reflexively reacting to seeing a baseball flying at your face and raising a hand to catch it a distinct bit faster will also naturally happen for the same reasons. However, something moving faster than the human body could ever hope to react at all (even with better timing) will not be avoidable as is the normal. So dodging a bullet is not possible, for example, unless the body would be able to move out of the way with its current (normal) capabilities at the time. ->This has also resulted in the user acquiring an “eidetic memory”, with even very old memories being recalled incredibly vividly.
-Nullifying the Stroop Effect-
->Further, this power defies the psychological phenomenon known as the 'Stroop Effect', which has been more simply denoted as being: "...a demonstration of the reaction time of a task......often used to illustrate the nature of automatic processing versus conscious visual control." To elaborate, the brain automatically processes words automatically when you read them, and similarly can automatically recognize colors when you see them. But if you wrote the name of the color "Red" in green font, or wrote the world "Purple" in yellow-colored font, it takes your brain longer to process these things. This is because the meaning of the words (a differing color) conflict with the actual color of the font the word was written in, causing the brain to have to consciously think about the matter and rectify the conflicting information if asked a question such as: "what color is this word?" In other words, this power causes the user to automatically process all of these things without issue, using the myriad of "compartments" to generate the answer far faster than a normal person could. Even if the word "yellow" were written in green font, the answer to the above question "what color is this word" would be answered in a heartbeat without any added mental pause needed to process the answer itself. Simply, the "mental conflict of information" as it is being processed in the user's mind does not exist outright.
-Impact of Compartments and Compartment Growth-
->The compartments created by this power in effect transform the user’s mind into an incredible living “supercomputer”, something like a great "colony" (mind) of ants that is composed of numerous smaller, weaker “ants” (compartments) that together are very potent in application. It takes adding lot of new “ants”, however, to make a substantial and noticeable difference overall in the efficiency and productivity of the “colony”. This is where the growth of this power as the user “levels up” as an esper comes into play. Each time they “level up” as an esper, the amount of compartments exponentially increases, and as such results in both greater potential and potency to the ability in a very distinct way. To illustrate: As level 1 esper the user only had 6 compartments, and had only relatively minor advantages from this power as a result. Yet upon becoming a level 2 esper, they rose to have 19 compartments and exhibited far more potency in their ability as a result. Upon becoming finally a level 3 esper, the amount of compartments has risen to 38 and increased the overall “potency” of this power several-fold as compared to the last time. This is how the power grows, with the “growth” itself scaling up more and more exponentially as the user “levels up” as an esper with greater and greater results. This in application makes the esper’s eventual progression to a level 4 esper and then to a level 5 esper each more substantial in impact than any prior “level ups” would have been like in turn.
-Results When AIM Countermeasures Are Used-
->When exposed to AIM-field disruption or such devices to try to prevent use of the power, the presence of any existing compartments in the user’s mind was not altered, though observation has determined that the “growth” of new compartments cannot occur when such devices are being used. This suggests a certain “permanency” that exist when the power makes changes to the mind when the effect have already taken place, which makes sense in accordance with the power’s effect being just “making more compartments” over time as the user hits certain milestones in esper development.
-Biological Changes-
->User, upon developing as an esper for the first time, received changes to their nervous system and its various hormones, components, and tissues. All of these things became notably more complex than a normal human’s in all regards, from complexity to speed and control over electrical signals the system uses and such things. They are even distinct as compared to other espers according to current observations. This one-time change in biology to accommodate the power itself is notable, showing very high resistance to mind-control powers based on affecting the mind in chemical and electrical manners.

Skills: Chemistry, Robotics, and Engineering are the main sorts of subjects she is best at, with a level of startling fluency in them that she is able to use proficiently. She is great at crafting and design various things, usually on the fly, and occasionally enjoys tinkering about. She also has good expertise generally in Computers overall as well, possessing even a noted competency in hacking after a stint of boredom last summer. The best way to summarize up her primary skills for the most part would be just calling her an “avid technophile”....albeit one who happens to be able to learn things really, really well. Funny enough, she is terrible at explaining anything she can do well, making an impossible tutor funnily enough in those areas. She can also make a very good cup of coffee....not bad at all with tea either. However, cooking beyond this is not her forte. At all, actually. Seriously. Don’t eat any food she cooks otherwise, for the love of everything good and holy. Ambition: (What drives them? What is their goal in Academy City? What do they want to do? How will they go about doing this? How will they achieve it? How will they achieve it in the timeframe of this RPG? Eg. do they want to steal fragments of Tree Diagram and learn how to uplift dolphins? Is there a plot you wanna run to achieve this goal? Send me a message there as well) Several sorts of things help drive the girl known as Akari Onishi, one of those being her continued participation and rigorous training within the Power Curriculum Program to reach Level 5. She desires to attain this level to prove her hard work will pay off, and that it isn’t just “talent” that got her this far. However, she has had the idea that, if she could get key fragments of the Tree Diagram, it might be possible to create a miniaturized supercomputer to act as the “core” of a project she’s dreamt of for a little while. The nature of this project? She hasn’t told anyone, really, about it either... Extra: -Attends “Kirigaoka Girls' Academy” as a student -Her ability was named because it reminded the person naming it of the “Tree Diagram”
