So, probably a good place to start would be to outline what kind of fantasy races there are within our setting. Obvious ones include: Humans Orcs Elves Dwarves Goblins Halflings/Hobbits Additional ones I’m gonna add right off the bat: Gnomes (skinny, diminutive tinkerers with a knack for illusion magic and mechanical invention. Cheerful, live about 300 years and still worry about not having enough time to fit everything they want to do) Dragonborn (Tall draconic humanoids, with dragonlike faces and scales, clawed 4-fingered hands and feet and the ability to breathe fire or some other elemental breath weapon. Rare as dragons themselves.) Tieflings (basically humans but with devil-like traits such as horns and tails and sometimes cloven hooves. Tieflings are usually caused by ancestors who made deals with devils and demons a long, long time ago.) Some form of beast-folk, maybe? (This one I’m less concrete on and would like to hear your thoughts regarding, but the idea of anthropomorphic animals is hardly unusual in fantasy settings, could be fun. Lizardfolk are pretty cool in my book.)
