Public announcements should be reserved for victories; celebrating the good things in our lives. Negativity should be minimized as much as possible and kept to exclusively private ears/eyes. This should be the norm for everyone. 

If I saw a couple displaying their love exclusively on public social media, I would just keep on scrolling and move on my life. Their love has absolutely no impact on with my life and I would never think to denigrate a person's love for another. There should be more love in this world. Condone/support/champion love and positive actions. Minimize negativity wherever possible.
