Elder Tales was originally an American MMORPG created by Atharva Inc., a Los Angeles-based company. Over time, as Elder Tales popularity grew, the number of servers expanded up to 13, when Elder Tales became a fully-global MMO with a server on every continent. Each server has its own company running the game, coming up with their own special events, classes, and subclasses. However, transferring to another server is as simple as taking a Teleport Gate or a Fairy Ring to another server, having no restrictions. Furthermore, to allow better communication between players, there is a highly-accurate automatic translator that works even for voice chat. The world of the game, Theldesia, is based on ours only at half scale, mirroring many cities and landmarks in it’s own unique style. It is built on what is essential a post apocalyptic earth with run down, overgrown buildings and skyscrapers littering the land. Elder Tales functions as most MMO’s, offering the player to choose a race, class, and one of several subclasses that are usually roleplay centric. In this RP, Race won’t have very much impact other than character appearance, but Class and Subclass have benefits worth pondering.
Our story: It has been about a month in game since the apocalypse, which refers to the event on May 3, 2018 that trapped all players who were logged in inside of the game. It was triggered by the release of the game's twelfth expansion pack, Homesteading the Noosphere. Among its most immediate effects was trapping over several hundred thousand players worldwide. The NPCs, known as Landers or People of the Land, were also affected by this incident. Depending on the perspective, either they suddenly gained memories, personalities and backgrounds. Things were rough at first, with no idea whether one would respawn anymore and all the food tasting bland and all liquids tasting of water, but over time the adventurers adapted. Cooking foods without the in game menu gave them flavor and a brave, stupid, or suicidal adventurer discovered one could even respawn. In the last month, the people of the land have gotten more bold and bitter toward the adventurers, players are in disorder and have taken to killing others as opposed to the monsters, and guilds have started becoming the pseudo government. One guild, Neon Colossus, headed by the Elven Summoner with the Noble subclass known as Parks, is known for ruling alongside several other guilds that act as a pseudo-government for the area known as the Cleftlands, near the great lakes. Other guilds in this alliance include an formerly purely roleplay guild known as The Knights of Bahamut who take Lawful good to new levels and act as the police of the city, headed by Platinum Knights who act as sheriffs, and several other crafting, raiding, and merchant guilds, none with more power than another. When making a character, feel free to make them the head of a guild other than Knights of Bahamut or Neon Colossus or just a member of one or even guildless! Feel free to be any level, 1-92 as very few will have had time to get higher without socially isolating themselves and hard grinding. Being in a guild will have no affect on your power level in game. You can even make a Lander character who just happens to hang out with us, or even a Lander turned adventurer. In the wake of an event that happens every december, players are taking advantage of a recurring quest where the landers send out gifts to be delivered by adventurers for a small amount of experience. The problem is, these presents were usually represented as mules with bags of gold, weapons, armors, and potions that the players would get a cut of upon delivery. Without the game mechanics that would normally bar access to these inventories without completing the quests, the adventurers have started accepting the gifts and taking them for themselves leaving the people of the land upset, the monsters spawned by the quest left to roam, and has only increased player killing for the promise of nearly free rewards. The North Wen Alliance has started enlisting scribes to post wanted posters for known player killers and some adventurers find this cruel, as dying means losing your memories. Unrest among adventurers, landers, and monsters alike is at an all time high this holiday season. Can our brave group manage to calm the server with the highest population in the game? It was headed by a Noble who had achieved the King tier of the Noble subclass and GMed the roleplay to be based around issues in his kingdom. It's 300+ members would go on raids and perform fake quests for the other nobles and players of the guild to keep the game exciting in the endgame beyond the fashion component of it. Post Apocalypse: After the apocalypse, only 106 members were logged in and of those only 30 or so decided to continue their characters into their new life. This left Parks with a small band of followers and knights that he mostly orders around as equals, no longer fully acting as a king due to these people no longer just being avatars on a screen. Neon Colossus has taken to Lander relations more than ever, due to their history speaking of Parks as a King among the adventurers and therefore a sort of leader. He explains that his kingdom is small but they assume he is modest. He has since embraced this title and while in the presence of Landers plays up his lordship in order to assist in negotiations. Among Adventurers, he's nothing more than the leader of an RP guild.
