I think it’s more important to consider how the technology that’s available would affect regular survivors in the apocalypse. Our characters are not likely to have the cutting-edge experimental weapons tech because, frankly, we’re mostly a bunch of random civilians. I’m mostly thinking about stuff that either would not exist any more that our characters would miss from pre-nuclear life (ie: tv, the internet, coffee, electricity in every home, PLUMBING), or things that would still be around that would be helpful for survival (ie, flashlights, Walkie-Talkies, assault rifles, HAM radios or solar panels). I imagine that since magic exists in this world, they’re probably more technologically advanced in certain areas (after all, magic is a seemingly unlimited energy source if you know how to use it) but it’s also possible that magic slowed technological advancement because it meant there was reduced necessity for it. Really depends on your perspective, I suppose. I don’t think that our apocalypse will have laser guns but it’s also probably gonna have communities which use magic, solar or wind power to keep the lights on.
