RECRUITMENT STATUS: Open CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR: PLAYERS: __________________________________________________
Welcome to Vivid Recollections: Into The False Light, a story influenced by series such as Life is Strange, Stranger Things, It, Until Dawn, and Dead by Daylight. Though, it takes elements from Life is Strange and Dead by Daylight above all else. Vivid Recollections will be a small town-type story set in Farmer Hill, Montana, a town built by the mountainside. To the average person, there's nothing notable about it other than its picturesque appearance. It's just a small farming community that exports crops, people go to work, kids go to school, and so on. The town has a secret like no other... and without the knowledge of many is host to some eldritch monstrosity. The story will follow a group of students that attend Grand Ridge Academy that are just living their lives when they're involved in a situation that was straight out of a horror movie. They come out of the situation with magical powers known as Abstractions and eventually come in contact with a being known as the Glutton. The Glutton is an eldritch God that has the power to consume all creation but is trapped in the mountain - threatening to break free of it's confinement. After the fight with the being goes horribly wrong, the group is all knocked into a coma. The story will begin with the cast awakening in a hospital and finding out that Farmer Hill has changed a lot; people are going mad and killing each other, monsters roam the streets, and people preach about a "redeeming light". Worst of all, the Glutton is close to bringing about the end of days. Many more Awakened have been knocked into the coma, but once they Awaken they will have to face the Glutton and it's dark legion in a battle that they're not sure its possible to win. This story will be an urban-fantasy story that will cast a certain light on "magic", while leaving it ambigious whether or not it's truly magic or not. The storyline will have elements of superpowers, horror, and more - but the story will be a very dark cosmic horror stoy. The theme of Vivid Recollections will be Memory, Emotion, Connection, and Repression. A big part of the story will be the characters having a repressed memory, or emotion, that sabotages them in some way. How they'll get over that repression, and help them connect with other people. I also want the story to be dark, and very symbolic in nature. I won't be providing clear answers to everything.

The story begins with the cast attending a simple summer-camp. Many were bunched around a fireplace, while others were helping each other in the infirmity. However, it was made clear that there was something very wrong going on at this summer-camp - there was something messing with the minds of the students. Which nearly caused a brawl when weed was passed around, and a hallucination was mistaken for the drug being spiked. After being taken away, said student (Claire) was accosted by Scott Reese, son of Sheriff Reese and general pain in the ass for the students. He demanded that he sleep with her, and when he was refused, he got violent. However, another force spoke to him and guided him deep into the woods - offering him the power to get revenge on them. After accepting the power, Scott underwent a supernatural transformation and became a hulking brute wielding an ax. After making his presence known by killing one of the teachers and a foolish student, he went on a rampage through the camp - attacking whoever he came across. The students were trapped because the bridge was destroyed, but the only way they could escape was via boat. One small group got the boats ready, while another alerted everyone to the escape plan. After everything was ready, everyone met by the docks, and Scott pursued them. The students were saved by another Awakening and stopping time to give another time to bind him. The students escaped, and while trying to row back to shore, a large orange being appeared high up in the sky and attacked them. They were knocked unconscious by the being and appeared on the shore... having Awakened.

All the Awakened experienced a dream of two children wandering through the woods getting attacked by a monster and being saved by men and women in robes. This child was known as John Reid when he was younger. One month later and the Awakened were slowly discovering their brand new abilities, and realizing that Farmer Hill was more than just some small town in the middle of nowhere. They were drawn to each other but there was a sense of dread among them because Awakened were being murdered by Scott Reese left and right. One Awakened, testing their ability, caused a small explosion in Grand Ridge that caused the fire alarm to go off. This caused varying situations that ended with Britney Williams to assemble the Awakened into a "support group" for survivors of the massacre. The support group was gathered the next day at Grand Ridge after their classes and it quickly went off track. The subject quickly went towards the Awakened where Britney explained that John Reid was the "Guardian" of the town, and he left behind a book for the next generation of Awakened. A tome that that was scattered and that they needed to find, as it had all the answers - and a way to end this madness. What really caught the group's attention was the rivalry between two members of the group. When the support group was going to reach it's most violent the group was whisked away into a vision; it showed the town destroyed and littered with bodies. They were approached by an ethereal being in the shape of a child (Nicknamed the "God-Child") that warned them about a being known as "The Glutton", and told them this is what the thing will do to their town. The God-Child then showed them a vision of a group of Awakened being attacked by Scott Reese and pointed them to John Reid's farmhouse. The group broke off to help the Awakened and they managed to scare off Scott Reese and explain the situation to them. A few hours later they all went to John Reid's farm and quickly split off into groups to investigate it, each group investigating a different part of the farm. They found nothing of note, but the situation took a turn once a strange being came and attacked the group. A brief fight took place before it noticed that somebody came home; Sharon Reid. The being went straight for her and broke her arm, and Britney killed the being, but she noticed a huge swarm of insects incoming and came to the realization that Sharon had awakened. The group was forced inside the houses while trying to find a way to get out of the situation, through careful planning they were able to disable Sharon and the insect swarm dispersed. After a few hours, Sharon came to and the group questioned her. She was reluctant to share any information at best and downright hostile towards the group at her very worst. Through convincing, she ultimately directed them to Hillview High, where her father operated out of, according to her and they all went to the school. Unaware of what they'll face there.

Upon arriving at the abandoned school, they noticed that it was coated in near-obsessive graffiti - preaching about getting redeemed and some orange glow. The group ultimately ignored this and pressed on to where Sharon was leading them - a very special room that was covered in photographs of various people in Farmer Hill. They were accessed by their threat level and if they were too much of a threat they were "eliminated", and soon Sharon began firing accusations off towards Britney, who tried to defend herself. Once enthralled by an abstraction she admitted everything, that she was apart of a group known as the Watchers and had been manipulating the group from the beginning. Before she could reveal more, Scott Reese attacked the group, killing one of their comrades in front of them. A battle took place that ended with the death of Scott Reese by his own weapon, and in his last moments he reverted back, bawling how he was sorry and enthralled by his "Master". And warning them that the master was coming. Revealing itself in a glorious orange light the Glutton attacked the group, seemingly immune to all of their abstractions. So they had no choice but to flee but the moment they made it outside the Glutton trapped them in a net and killed one of their friends. They were scattered by the Glutton and some began fighting among themselves out of panic. The Glutton resumed it's rampaged and killed another member of their group, Claire, and sent them running. They all were chased outside of the school where it seemed that the Glutton had them dead to rights - however, a group of robed figures came and held the Glutton off, even giving a portal to escape from. However, the Glutton didn't like this and overwhelmed the group with a horrible sound that knocked everyone present unconscious. As they were falling unconscious, the group were being teleported away by the God-Child, saving them from the Glutton.

[sup]⋗ 1 . 1 |[/sup] Remember that everybody is here to have fun above all else. We may throw a few flowery jabs at each other, but remember it's all in good fun. The Golden rule is: don't be a dick. [sup]⋗ 1 . 2 |[/sup] That said, remember that I have the full right to deny anyone access to the RP, and I am willing to remove anyone from the RP should they get too unruly. I hope it doesn't come to that, but I'm just putting that out there. [sup]⋗ 1 . 3 |[/sup] I enforce a policy of not informing people of every time they should post (unless their character is in the middle of interactions). If you go inactive without a peep, I'm not going to babysit you. It's a player's responsibility to keep up with the RP. [sup]⋗ 1 . 4 |[/sup] Please be respectful towards all other players. [sup]⋗ 1 . 5 |[/sup] Please do not post a "wip" sheet. I find it very irritating when someone posts an incomplete character sheet. If you want me to read over what you have so far, just PM it to me. If you need a place to work on it just private message the sheet to yourself (or write it on one of many platforms). [sup]⋗ 1 . 6 |[/sup] This RP will strictly be "first come, first serve." Meaning I will not reserve any powers/character roles/etc, and they will go to whoever finishes their character sheet first. If there's a conflict over it, I will decide the outcome. [sup]⋗ 1 . 7 |[/sup] Character applications will go into the OOC (where we can work things out) until they are accepted. In other words, the character tab is for accepted characters only. Also, do not "reserve" a spot in the Character Tab unless you were given permission to by me. [sup]⋗ 1 . 8 |[/sup] Try to keep the OOC active as possible. Even chit-chatting about random games is perfectly okay.

[sup]⋗ 2 . 1 |[/sup] No Powergaming, God-Modding, Metagaming, etc, etc... You know, the "don't"s of Roleplaying. You know the dealio. [sup]⋗ 2 . 2 |[/sup] Let me say now; the story will be pretty slow-paced at times. I have a job and college, so I won't be able to post constantly. If a slower RP is good for you, then go for it. [sup]⋗ 2 . 3 |[/sup] Adding onto the above, the story will be a little messy with a lot of different storylines running alongside each other - with lots of characters. If you don't think you can handle that, then I don't think you should join. [sup]⋗ 2 . 4 |[/sup] The Roleplay will have plenty of collaboration posts, as I think they are good for the pacing I desire. I heavily recommend you do collaboration posts for most of your interactions. [sup]⋗ 2 . 5 |[/sup] All I ask for is one post a week. If it's been a week since your last post, your character will be placed into the inactive section until they are written off (mostly by death). Once a character is inactive, however, they are officially an NPC and can be used freely by the GMs, or the players. Unless you give notice of your absence, then your character is off the table. [sup]⋗ 2 . 6 |[/sup] I am not a stickler for post length. I'd rather have a meaningful paragraph, over an essay full of filler. But, I request one paragraph. [sup]⋗ 2 . 7 |[/sup] This RP, at times, will get very dark. I plan for it to be a very mature, and down-to-earth Roleplay. There will be death, drinking, drugs, and tickle fingers. [sup]⋗ 2 . 8 |[/sup] Character death is a real possibility. By submitting a character, you understand that they have to take responsibility for their actions. They will not be bailed out by me and may be injured or die. I won't jeopardize the story for one character. They can also be killed by other characters. I won't go out of my way to kill off any character - that I like - but I may injure them for the sake of the story. [sup]⋗ 2 . 9 |[/sup] Romance/Sex/Whatever is allowed in the RP. "Fade to black" is so beaten into your heads by now that there's no point in even repeating it. [sup]⋗ 2 . 10 |[/sup] To keep things a bit more organized, please say where your post is taking place at the start of your post. [sup]⋗ 2 . 11 |[/sup] If you're also expecting me to hold your hand every step of the way, then you're going to be disappointed. This is going to be an RP that rewards taking initiative, and starting plotlines of your own. I'll provide a storyline, but I'm not going to be railroading everyone.

[sup]⋗ 3 . 1 |[/sup] I expect some moderate detail when writing your character sheet. Remember, this RP is more grounded in realism, and I want each character to feel like a person. Try to give them a believable past, goals, personality, etc. [sup]⋗ 3 . 2 |[/sup] If your goal is to basically make the strongest/best character, and try to "win" the roleplay, let me stop you here and say you won't get far. This is a story, not a place for you to wank your OP self-insert. Nothing says "I'm a bad writer" to me than giving your character the strongest abilities (along with an asston of skills). I will not hesitate to ask you to change whatever I dislike about your character sheet. [sup]⋗ 3 . 3 |[/sup] If your character is a sociopath/psychopath, complete badass, perfect character, edgelord, then they're likely not going to get accepted. [sup]⋗ 3 . 4 |[/sup] You can create a character of any ethnicity, gender, sexuality, background, etc, within the bounds of realism of course. You can definitely get creative here. [sup]⋗ 3 . 5 |[/sup] Now, this is going to be a tough one, but avoid going for physical based powers such as super strength, regeneration, and the sort. The powers in this setting are going to be more symbolic in nature, so things like elemental, psychic, and spiritual powers. However, there are ways to make physical powers work if you're creative and use loopholes - I encourage you to do so. I'll work with you on this. On the other hand, you're not limited by science! [sup]⋗ 3 . 6 |[/sup] There is no character limit, you can, and are encouraged, to make as many characters as you can handle. Just don't get stupid. [sup]⋗ 3 . 7 |[/sup] I suggest writing a description of your character's appearance to get everyone in that writing mood. If you must, you can use a picture. Just no anime. The pictures have to be of real people, or realistic art (but, let's shy away from A/B List Celebrities). [sup]⋗ 3 . 8 |[/sup] When creating a character, try to be diverse. Look at the character sheets and try to fulfill a role that no one has. No one wants a million street fighters, or nice girls. You can be pretty creative within the bounds of the lore. [sup]⋗ 3 . 9 |[/sup] Following abilities are banned: Anything related to "power manipulation" (such as replication, removal, enhancement, etc), Immortality, Gravity Manipulation, Magnetism, Matter Manipulation, "instant death" powers, reality warping, anything with "Omni" attached to it, and complete defense/indestructibility. [sup]⋗ 3 . 10 |[/sup] On the other hand, I'm going to be allowing more powerful abilities such as time manipulation, mind control/suggestion, memory manipulation, etc. There are limits in place to keep the playing field even, so keep that in mind. [sup]⋗ 3 . 11 |[/sup] Powers reflect some aspect of the character, so keep that in mind when creating one. I'm not asking for something super symbolic, but maybe something loosely related to your character. [sup]⋗ 3 . 12 |[/sup] Also, don't fill out the weaknesses/limits section of the character sheet. I'll fill that out for you! [sup]⋗ 3 . 13 |[/sup] Please refrain from tacking skills/powers onto characters. Try to make everything feel natural to your character. [sup]⋗ 3 . 14 |[/sup] This is optional, but I can choose a power for your character. It'll be a fun little thing for both of us.
