Here is my application, I hope it's alright! Let me know if anything needs to be amended. In some ways, he does so to spite his jaded father, and in others he does it to shy away from his fear of becoming like his father. He inherited his good outlook on life from his mother, whose time spent with his younger brothers is a cherished memory that gives Alexei hope for the future. On the surface, Alexei is confident, but at times foolhardy. His prowess on the battlefield is only matched by an underlying anxiety of not being good enough. Over time, Alexei has learned to mask his anxiety with jokes in the face of death, and asserting an aura of control to inspire comrades fighting alongside him. Backstory: Born 2554 to parents Velac and Arielle d'Vexille, Alexei and his two younger twin brothers, Elias and Andreas, lived in a rebuilt affluent house in Shellharbour, just two hours south of Sydney. Shellharbour, along with larger Wollongong and smaller Kiama was outside the blast radius that took Sydney, the cities united under the Independent banner of the Southshell Alliance. Over the centuries of managing to survive in the aftermath of 2077, the Southshell Alliance scavenged cores from the wasteland and with them, manufactured their own mechas at the Steel Works in Port Kembla. With only limited influence on the coastal hinterlands, they could only scavenge enough cores to share three to each city in the Alliance. The d'Vexilles were one of the chosen families to serve as guardians of their city of Shellharbour. Over the centuries they protected their city and the others of the alliance with Vectis d'Vexille, the Wolf of the Cove. This earned them the respect of the people who lived amongst them, and the d'Vexilles were regarded as nobility, if such a thing still existed. When the Megacorporations began to stir from the ashes of the Old World, the Southshell Alliance enacted measures to ensure their cities were left alone. With agents and an amount of misdirection and subterfuge, the Alliance persisted outside the dominion of Red Star, watching; waiting. Then when Haven rose up against Red Star, the Southshell cities rose up alongside them, liberating the inner hinterlands of what used to be New South Wales. Velac d'Vexille was a decorated veteran of this battle for freedom, with Vectis changing the course of many battles along the coast and in the hinterlands. By the time Alexei was 7, he was experiencing a world that was fair and free, without the threat of the megacorporation descending upon them and enslaving them. By the time he was a teenager, Red Star had been pushed out of Australia, and his father was on his homecoming as a war hero. As the eldest of three sons, Alexei had a lot of expectation put on him by his father. His father was stoic, unwavering but haunted by war with Red Star. The path of liberation had been confronting, as he had to venture beyond Shellharbour which had always experienced peace. Anywhere else were not so fortunate, and suffered for it. Alexei was put through rigorous training and conditioning in his teenage years, so that he could be an NC pilot like his father. Pain, overcoming adversity, fighting against hopelessness-- Alexei felt like he knew nothing else when he was around his father. And he almost hated him for it. His brothers were put through the same, although at lesser intervals. Alexei did his best to dissuade his father from exerting his younger siblings by taking the burden all on his own. Alexei trained harder and better, to prove to his father he was capable of everything that was expected of him. On the dawn of Alexei's 21st birthday, his father went down to the cove, and didn't come back. Nobody knows what happened to him, as it was too early for anyone to notice, and nobody visit the water's edge for fear of any lingering radiation carried by the ocean currents. He left behind his core for Vectis, to Alexei. From the day onward, he became the guardian d'Vexille. Upon his mother's advice, Alexei enlisted to support the Havenite military as a freelance pilot representing the Southshell Alliance, along with a few others of the Southshell cities. Tactical Preferences and Skills: From both the hellish 7 years of training with his father, and the 2 years in the actual hell of combat, Alexei has learned to live without fear. This paired together with his happy-go-lucky attitude, Alexei takes on the enemy with a zeal that can even instil fear in his opponents. He favours maximising manoeuvrability and creating his own options that his enemies won't expect. As such, his creativity with his NC's thrusters and hybrid capability is what makes the Wolf of the Cove an NC to be wary of. Its primary fire charges powerful plasma projectiles with hit-scan characteristics intended for combat sniping. Impetus' secondary fire splits the projectiles into short 'bursts', which diffuses the projectile and fires the resulting burst of projectiles with half the momentum of its primary fire, but the instability of the projectiles creates explosive impacts, intent as suppressing fire. 'Aegis' Plasma-resistant Shield A specially coated metal shield, it is resistant to both ballistic and plasma weaponry. Given the material used to make it, the shield is designed to be as light as possible, without compromising on protection and the capability of being used to bash into an enemy with any amount of force. When in quadrupedal form, Vectis stores the shield on the underside to protect itself from below. Head-Mounted Point Defence Guns Small ballistic point defence guns mounted on both Vectis' bipedal and quadrupedal forms, these countermeasures are not advanced but are enough given the pilot's own capability of avoiding as many missiles as possible. The PD guns can handle any other stray missiles that are incoming. Wing-Mounted Plasma Blades When in bipedal form, Vectis can draw one or both of its blades mounted on its wings. The blades generate a plasma edge focused to heat up and cut through armour as quickly as possible. In quadrupedal form, the Vectis can use its 'wings' as plasma blades, dashing through enemies with 'slice and dice' manoeuvres. Wing-Mounted Assault Guns Unlike its blades, Vectis can't hand wield the guns mounted in both wings. However, it can also use them in both bipedal and quadrupedal forms as auxillary firepower. Enhanced Thrusters To compensate for the versatility of Vectis' arsenal, its thrusters have been enhanced to provide as much mobility as it would have unweighed by gear.
