However, it is shown that he has the capacity to care for others. Zero keeps his cool under most circumstances. It takes something quite drastic for Zero, such as the death of Iris, to lose that demeanor and, in turn, fall to his emotions. Despite not viewing himself as a hero, Zero has often displayed a tendency to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. He also shows distaste for innocent deaths. Even though Zero does not openly show it, he too seems to long for peace between humans and Reploids. However, he has said that he doesn't have any problems fighting, unlike his more pacifistic friend, X; whether his enemy is a Maverick or a human, he will fight at his best. Background Zero was built in the year 2XXX by the evil scientist, Dr. Wily, as another attempt to best Dr. Light's creation, Mega Man. Quite possibly Wily's most powerful creation, Zero was built based on blueprints stolen from Dr. Light's laboratory (that of the new Mega Man model known as X). It is unknown if Zero ever performed his primary function to destroy Mega Man. Zero contained a flaw in his cognitive program that made him violent and unwilling to obey instructions. Because of this, Wily decided to seal him in a capsule. Zero's history with the Maverick Hunters began with Zero as the maverick. A century later, his hiding place was found by a group of Reploids. Once awakened by this group, Zero destroyed them, as well as any intruders who would dare enter Wily's lair. Destroying everything in his path, a freshly awakened Zero was ready to create a swathe of destruction, just as he was programmed to do. The situation became so serious when Zero wiped out Gamma's unit that Sigma, the current leader of the Maverick Hunters, had to fight Zero himself. During this fight, Zero stood against Sigma's superior fighting skills until he severed his right arm. Afterward, Sigma was slowly becoming a victim to the Maverick's feral nature and was mercilessly beaten. Zero was then attempting to finish off the hunter commander by ripping off his head. However, before he could do so, Zero reeled back in pain as a large "W" appeared on the crystal in his head, likely representing "Wily". Taking the brief moment of vulnerability, Sigma smashed his fist into Zero's crystal, rendering him unconscious. Zero was taken back to Maverick Hunter headquarters where he was repaired and reprogrammed to have the free will capacity of the newly found reploid, X. After Zero's repairs were complete, he was refitted with up to date hunter weaponry. His obvious skill with his signature Z-saber was equal to none. Zero quickly rose to the elite ranks of the hunters, until finally he held the station of second-in-command under Sigma. When Sigma went maverick, Zero was given his title and put in charge of guiding the new recruit, X. Zero and X worked together for several missions and Zero ended up sacrificing himself to save X from the renegade hunter, Vile. Zero was rebuilt by Sigma's henchmen and controlled briefly, but an encounter with X allowed him to return to the proper state of mind. X eventually rose to become the leader of the hunters as Zero worked with him, tirelessly "retiring" mavericks and thwarting the plans of Sigma. Though, one day, great beams of light came from the sky and began consuming everyone. Zero and X did what they could to save as many as possible, but there was nothing they could do and soon, their world was consumed within Galeem's great light... Specialty: Close-Quarters Combat|Analysis Level: 1 Experience: 0/10 Powers Z-Buster: Essentially an arm cannon that Zero can fire plasma out of through charging up energy. Zero possesses one in each arm, but he has to be standing still to fire them. Strengths Masterful Combatant - Due to his creation to be one of the greatest battle Reploids of his world, Zero naturally much more apt to combat than most others. Along with his Learning Capacity, he'd know where to where to attack, how to maintain defense, and how to read his opponents or gauge opposing attacks so as to react accordingly. Further, he can quickly analyze an opponent's fighting style, how they perform attacks, and figure out their potential weaknesses. Reploid Physiology - While appearing very much human-like in nature, Zero is a Reploid, and not only that but a Battle Reploid. In which case, he is typically much faster, stronger, and more durable than most Reploids, let alone humans. He doesn't possess the need for food, water, or necessarily oxygen, although at times needing rest. Weaknesses Hero/Fighter's Spirit - Zero's tendency to sacrifice himself for those whom he cares about, as well as innocent/good individuals can prove to be damaging and even fatal at times. What is more, his willingness to fight above flight in some cases, can also result in his downfall. Reprogramming - Zero is by no means immune to mind-control, and has on a few occasions been reprogrammed for evil purposes, even before the likes of Galeem had appeared into his world. Spirits: N/A Kindred Spirits Megaman "X" - His initial protege turned partner and best friend, Zero has the utmost respect for X above all others. They've been through thick and thin together, despite their differences. His relationship to X is like that of an older brother of sorts. Iris - Iris was among his friends and worked with him on his missions as his operator. He's saved her life a few times. Although he never necessarily acknowledged it, Iris had some sorts of feelings for him. Though, it was too late by the time he actually did, as she perished in his arms, leaving Zero with emotions that he was never quite sure that he had. Axl - Axl's situation is similar to X, in that they are also partners who rely on one another. Zero can find the younger, new Gen Reploid to be kind of annoying due to his childish nature, but admires the kid's heart. A versatile weapon and very formidable when in his hands.
