In general I'd say it's a good idea to interact with everyone at least a little bit. Otherwise you end up with those people that just get dumped on with activity and those that are just sitting in a corner. And that's no fun for either party, personally.

Not all at once of course, but yeah. Try to talk with more people than your planned partners. It's the whole point, right?
