[@fdeviant]
The representaion in the show was just plain insulting too, like when people say they want good represenation they mean they want writers to give us two characters in a loving relationship and develop them throughout the series. I find it completely horrid that at the very end they would just shoe horn in some random man we've never seen before, or even met and call that represenation. It's not good rep when we barely see them. What's the point in having gay representation in a show if you aren't going to show the two characters interacting with each other, falling in love, and being there for each other? I was never once a sheith shipper in the beginning of the show, but as it went on it was clear to me that the writers were going to go for Sheith (Shiro X Keith) Season 6 was a masterpiece, and just all but confirms that that's what the original plan was, but then something happened and dream works forced Voltron Staff's hands and they couldn't do it. (Also one of the director's wives watched Season 8 before it came out, and was tweeting about how happy she was with the ending, but when it launched on netflix she went on a very angry and confused rant about why they changed the ending, so I'm just betting that that shitty epilogue was not in the original animation.) The wedding seemed more like a bandaid that dream works used to cover themselves after people accused them of queer baiting, and they just made it so so much worse with this. Like I said, If miraculous lady bug, Steven universe, The Loud House, and fucking sesame street of all shows can do gay represenation well, then why couldn't Dreamworks do it? Because they're fucking cowards that's why, and I'm very pissed at them, because it was obvious they were meddling with the shows representation ever since Adam was announced. They almost didn't make adam shiro's husband and wanted to opt for "Room mate" but Pidge's voice actress essentailly told them to go fuck themselves and fought tooth and nail for a canon gay Shiro. Bex tried really hard for represenation, but it wasn't enough for the last two seasons it seems.
