Caeyin steeled himself for the blast from the Silencer in the human’s hand. After he had refused to meet her demands, it was only natural for her to shoot him. It was what he had been trained to expect in his military education on board his people’s ship: Withhold information; receive pain; repeat until one side caves to the other. That was the experience of a prisoner, and that was what he had prepared himself to endure. However, to his surprise, that wasn’t what seemed to be happening here.

He watched as the human sat down again instead of hitting him with a blast from the Silencer. She was surprisingly mild mannered about his obstinate response to her demand. He wasn’t quite sure what was going on in her head until she spoke up about giving him food in return for information. He rolled his eyes. It didn’t matter what method of torture she tried to use. Whether she shot him or starved him or did anything in between, he wasn’t going to betray his people. It was his duty as a soldier to protect any knowledge that could be used against them, and his leaders obviously thought he was up for the task, since they had assigned him to be in the military. He wasn’t going to let them down.

“Please,” he snorted after she had finished speaking to him. “If this is the best you can do, you might as well just get it over with and kill me while you still have the chance, [i]human[/i].” He spat the last word in a manner that was clearly meant to be derogatory.

With nothing left to say to her, Caeyin shifted to lean back against the wall of the aircraft, drawing his left leg to his chest and resting his free arm over his knee. It wasn’t the most comfortable position, but he doubted he would be able to get very comfortable at all as long as her ridiculous chain was fastened so tightly around his wrist. He looked away to avoid meeting the human’s gaze, unwilling to look her in the eye. She may have had him trapped, but that didn’t mean he was going to be a compliant prisoner. He intended to make her search for information as difficult as possible.
