The alien watched the small woman, but seemed uninterested in drinking the water. Instead, he retreated back under his blankets once more. From within the shade they provided from the room's harsh lighting, he continued to watch them steadily. 

The lights had been installed after the alien had used his shadow abilities to hide himself in a dome of total darkness. It was thought that his power dampening bracelets blocked use of all his abilities, but clear not. Whatever the case was, once the lights were installed, the alien had begun spending most of his time hiding under the blankets to get away from them.
