Status to Humans: Humans have an icy relationship with the Kotyans, given the former's xenophobic attitude and the latter's rampage throughout the galaxy, so the Kotyans mostly give humanity a wide berth.

Life expectancy: Most Kotyans age rapidly to adulthood and have a life expectancy of around 100 years.

Genders: Kotyans have a unique gender that is neither female nor male, though it's common for Kotyans to adopt a social gender when dealing with other species. 

Full Description: The Kotyans were an unremarkable pre-industrial alien society before something happened that turned the Kotyans into a hive mind. Calling itself the Kotyan Onslaught, the hivemind utilized the combined mental power and coordination to kick the technology and population of the Kotyans into overdrive, surprising the nearby races as they exploded onto the galactic stage, overrunning and annihilating every planet in their path through sheer numbers. Luckily, the crisis was averted thanks to the Kaisokens using a spell on the hive mind itself, putting it to sleep and causing the Kotyans to fall into a dormant state as a result. With the day saved, the other species began to repair the damage, only to find that some of the Kotyans were losing their connection to the hive mind, regaining their sentience and effectively "waking up". These Kotyans banded together over time, making family groups and later colonies and caravans in between and among the other great powers. Far from the warlike monstrosity that threatened to consume the galaxy years ago, the newly freed Kotyans view their origins on the galactic stage with scorn and disgust, and they have since reinvented themselves as a race that champions peaceful coexistence, scientific progress, and cultural achievement. A far different beast then the onslaught that spawned them, Kotyans are regarded as charming, thoughtful, and intelligent, and even the few races that still look at the Kotyans with distrust cannot deny their skills as diplomats and negotiators. That being said, their pacifism does not make them pushovers, and if their reputation is not enough to protect the societies they've built for themselves, a taste of what made them so terrifying to the galaxy is often enough to do the job. After all, it is commonly said that nothing is more terrifying then a Kotyan who considers you their enemy.

Kotyans are a vulpine-reptillian hybrid race, built sleekly and standing on average around six feet tall with long ears, snouts, and digitigrade legs. They are easily distinguished by their two-toned fur coats and metallic colored eyes, as well as their unique prehensile tails. Kotyans also posses an impressively dense muscular structure, allowing them to perform feats of athleticism and strength that defy their somewhat lanky appearance, and they possess razor-sharp retractable claws and a bite that is rumored to puncture steel. Kotyans are unique among other species in their mastery over a unique source of energy called the Resonance, a remnant of the psionic energy that built the hive mind, similar to the magic that is much more common in the galaxy, especially the Mind school. Kotyans are also note-worthy for their semi-vestigal vocal chords, which effects their ability to speak vocally with others, especially other races. Younger Kotyans born naturally are somewhat communicative and can pronounce some alien sounds, while those who were Awakened are often entirely mute.
