She is typically seen more formally as a melancholic and heroic loner of few words, despite the grandness of her achievements. She remains lonely and brooding - who seeks revenge against the Space Pirates, especially Ridley, who is personally responsible for the death of her parents. Despite her traumatic experiences as a child, Samus continues to push onwards with extreme courage and perseverance against any and all odds who stand against her. In addition, she shows compassion towards the innocent and vulnerable - with one notable example being how she spared the last baby metroid, after recalling her three-year-old self when Ridley killed her entire colony. Background: Samus Aran's life started on the the mining colony of K-2L with her parents, Rodney Aran and Virginia Aran. When she was three, her hometown was visited by the Chozo, a bird-like race, who were in need of Afloraltite, which was mined on K-2L by the Federation colonists there. They came in peace, and Samus immediately found a kindred spirit in a Chozo elder named Old Bird, who taught Samus that befriending and understanding others can be used to solve problems. Unfortunately for the Chozo, their access to the mineral was denied and they were forced to leave. Unfortunately, a Space Pirate flagship lead by the infamous space-dragon Ridley, was following the Chozo, hoping for a chance to steal any Afloraltite the Chozo might discover. He'd then lay a raid on the innocent colony and decimated everyone there, including Samus' mother, who Samus had to witness first hand after trying to befriend the beast. Her father, meanwhile, infiltrated the Space Pirates' vessel and ignited the Afloraltiite they had stolen, thus sacrificing himself and destroying all of the Space Pirates. Ridley was severely wounded, but he survived - leaving Samus as the only survivor of the raid. Fortunately for her, the Chozo had detected the distress signal the colony put out and rushed back to assess the damage. They would find the orphaned Samus Aran and promptly took her to their home planet, Zebes. However, they then predicted that Samus's frail body could not withstand harsh life in Zebes and promptly proceeded to integrate Chozo DNA with hers and equipping her with the Power Suit so that she could survive on the planet. They also knew her burning vengeance against the vile space pirates, thus inspiring them to turn her into a warrior of peace. After many years of intense training on Zebes, Samus left the chozo and temporarily worked for the Federation Police for another few years. After, she'd silently abandon her post, due to the tight authoritarian structure and several events of having to issue "questionable orders". She would only resurface several years later, becoming universally renowned as a Bounty Hunter by hunting down numerous Space Pirates singlehandedly. In fact, so much of her life during this time was shrouded in mystery that the public believed her to be a male cyborg, not the same woman who graduated first in her class at the GF Police. Samus would occasionally be summoned by Galactic Federation to do several jobs for them for money - which include: destroying the metroid species, destroying the organic-supercomputer Mother Brain "twice" (who also happened to have been created by the Chozo), intercepting various distress signals, tracking down missing units, and others of the like. However, one event she had always participated since its inception was the great "Super Smash Bros." competition - a fighting tournament that pitted some of the multiverse's greatest fighters against one another. The armored warrior had participated in all four of these events and had gotten 2nd place in the second tournament - the closest she ever got to winning. Yet it would be during the most recent event where everything she knew would be turned upside down. Summoned onto the "Great Cliff" she amongst roughly 80 other combatants bore witness to the arrival of the Lord of Light, Galeem, and his army of master hands. It would then proceed to eliminate all of the fighters with its beams of light - with Samus, despite fighting admirably, being one of the very first to become vaporized into oblivion. Her spirit would then be consumed and reformed to serve Galeem in its glorious conquest to reform the world in its own image. She can also fire a super missile for more damage, however it's in limited supply. She can earn back missiles by defeating enemies.
Strengths:

Armor: Samus' Varia suit adds a major barrier of defense against the opponent. It can withstand intense amounts of stress from the enemy, protecting against significant physical and projectile damage.
Heat/Cold Protection: Samus' Varia suit protects her from intense environmental damage. This includes intense heat and cold temperatures respectively.
Agility: Despite it's clunky look, Samus can still perform incredible maneuvers within her power suit. She can leap twice in the air, produce acrobatic stunts in the air, and can transform into her morph ball ability.
Weaknesses:

Electrical Damage: Samus' suit is vulnerable to electrical attacks, as it can potentially short-circuit her suit after extended periods in unexpected surges.
Water: Samus' current armor makes her incredibly sluggish when underwater. While it can still allow her to still breathe, the friction of the water significantly nerfs her speed to a painful crawl. Only once she acquires her Gravity Suit can she move fluently without delay.
Lava: While the Varia suit protects her from incredibly hot environments, it does not prevent her from being damaged by boiling lava and anything hotter. Only once she acquires her Gravity Suit can she withstand the incredible heat and swim effortlessly without damage.
Spirits:

N/A
Kindred Spirits:

Ridley: Her arch-nemesis - as well as the one who killed her parents - Samus desires for the day when she can finally defeat the Space Pirate leader once and for all.
Mega-Man: The two had crossed paths briefly in their travels - especially during their last multiversal Smash-a-thon. Both sport an incredible amount of gear and weaponry, as well as two heavy-hitting arm cannons to blast opponents into oblivion.
Fjorm: The second princess of the Kingdom of Nifl - both she and Samus had suffered heavy tragedies regarding their family members and seek revenge against their enemies. For Samus, it was her parents killed by Ridley and the Space Pirates - for Fjorm, her older sister Gunnthrá and her entire Kingdom were ravaged by the malevolent King Surtr of Múspell.
Inventory:

Varia Power Suit: Samus' Varia Suit is the classic staple power armor that allows her to do what she does best.
Homing Missiles: Samus can fire a limited supply of homing missiles from her arm cannon. She can reclaim more by defeating opponents.
Homing Super Missiles: In very limited supply, super missiles are twice as powerful as regular ones. She can sometimes reclaim more by defeating stronger opponents.
