Sue Sue heard the knock, its tone and weight recognized and familiar only to that of Anthony’s hand, and opened the door, a spring in her step like a galloping deer. Upon opening the door, she arched her head back enough to fully take in the immensity of Anthony. Anthony was never popular amongst her fellow classmates for being a Luthor, a stigma that he’d have to live with for the rest of his life. Whether it was bad or good, Anthony was well-known. To Sue, she wanted to see more than Anthony Luthor than just the name; she knew she was one of the very few he’d ever opened up to. Even if people say otherwise, perhaps this ruse of a relationship just being an agenda, Sue had this deep feeling, almost instinctual and honest, that Anthony cared more about Sue than anything. She posed an index finger to her lips, and pulled Anthony in, shoving him to her bedside. Without saying anything, she stood there in silence, hoping Anthony would understand the current expectation. Sue took off her clothes, to nothing but an undershirt and her shorts. With a quick motion to her headphones, she selected the chosen song and pressed play, toning the volume down to ONE, just enough to be mistaken for someone listening a maximum volume on their normal headphones. Try – P!nk Sue began to dance, posing slowly and gracefully. She delivered a message of perseverance through adversity; of never wanting to give up, even in the face of difficulty and discomfort. ♫”Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame…”♫ She reached up high into the air, her effort and muscle straining and obvious, to grab hold of what she held dear to her most. ♫”Where there is a flame, someone’s bound to get burned…”♫ Her face contorted into all sorts of emotions, and her hands and legs curled into her body, knocked away by shame and defeat. ♫”But just because it burns doesn’t mean you’re gonna die…”♫ But she knew if she were to give up now, with all the expectations laid on her friends, her father, the Academy and herself, she would never be happy, even if she were to end up in Paradise beyond her death. Her eyes tears up, and with a face of determination and tenacity, she broke free of the invisible weight and chain. ♫”You’ve gotta get up and try and try and try… Gotta get up and try and try and try”♫ She exploded, a sudden realization that she could do it, that all she needed was a reminder that everyone she knew would support her. That was the perk of having people care about you. She knew that she did not want to let anyone down. She had to get up and try. She jumped up and posed as a a large, dynamic star, high up in the room. ♫”You’ve gotta get up and try and try and try… ”♫ She wanted to make it work with Anthony. There was this strong bond with him that she could not ignore. She wanted to know if it could work, if he could do it and be hers – so she could be his. The music stopped, and she stood straight and calm, and bowed.
