[@Stitches] Detect magic is a cantrip, or level 0 spell. This means that, as long as you know it, you can cast it an infinite number of times, and just around every spell caster can learn it. Do note that it takes around 1 second to cast, and it does [i]not[/i] tell you what kind of magic it is, just that there is magic, and the strength of said magic. This can detect magic on items, magic auras and magical creatures. To get a more detailed description of the magic, Greater Detect Magic is a level 2 spell, which I don't [i]really [/i] reccomend taking as the Cantrip works well enough.

So yeah, Adrian knows Detect Magic. 

As for Side effects, there really aren't any.
