[b][color=f26522]How did you discover your powers:[/color][/b] Feast of Feasts (equivalent to Thanksgiving) was a bit of a trying time that year. An argument had broken out between them and their parents and Avery snapped. They wanted to punch something, to smash all of the plates and flip the table - and as they glared, the plates began to tremble. They then exploded in front of their eyes and they were unable to control it. Luckily, their parents were able to help contain their abilities until they calmed down - and their life was changed forever. They weren't an ordinary person with weird parents anymore - they were a mutant with weird parents. 

[b][color=f26522]General History:[/color][/b] Avery was raised by their aunts, as their parents were busy with their jobs at the New York Sanctum. The pair of them were sorcerers, having dedicated their lives to studying the Mystic Arts and protecting the multiverse from threats beyond the sort that the Avengers and other superhero teams could handle. Due to their exposure to mystic energy and the various realms, their only child was born with the X-gene. 

They and their cousin, Rebecca Eventide, grew up as sibling and sister. Her mother left her with her father - Avery's uncle - and he in turn left his baby girl with his sisters. It was sadly a bit of tradition in the family, but their aunties didn't mind it. They celebrated Solstice instead of Christmas, sticking to the family's more pagan roots, and they attended public school together. It was in high school that O.M.E.N. came to the home, accusing their cousin of being a witch. Their aunties managed to talk their way out of it, but that was the real reason they ceased public education and went through home schooling. Their lifestyle brought suspicion and it wasn't safe for them. 

Avery was visiting their parents at the New York Sanctum for Feast of Feasts when they discovered their powers. At first, they thought it was one of the sorcerers playing a prank on them - or that they had perhaps finally come into their magic. But instead, after some tests, they realized that they were a mutant. They stayed with his aunties and started trying to test the limits of their powers, but there was only so much they could do to help them. They didn't know much about telekinetic powers beyond that caused by a spell. 

Although Avery wanted to stay at home with their family, they agreed to begin school at Xavier's Institute last year. They were luckily already at home during the entire O.M.E.N. fiasco for the summer holiday and by the time they returned for his senior year, the Mansion had already been rebuilt and they moved into their dormitory room. They're hoping to be able to improve their control over their powers - especially given how dangerous and reckless they can be.
