Looks: Mirlande is a Haitian woman with mahogany skin, dark brown dreaded hair, and dark green eyes. She is somewhat petite, standing five and a half feet tall with a slender form. She dresses plainly and professionally in khaki pants and a white coat, often a buttoned top or scrub shirt underneath, and unflattering nurse mate shoes.
Personality: Mirlande is a no-nonsense woman with her patients best interests at heart. She is very intuitive, often able to sense something off about someone before it becomes apparent in their behavior. Though Mirlande is very serious and can sometimes come off as a bit cold, she only does what is best for her patients, and gives such harsh instruction and treatment because it’s what will help them the most.
Extra: Sometimes fumbles her English when flustered or annoyed.

Looks: It’s suspected that Lewis was a product of genetic experimentation; his mutations are quite shocking and ill-adapted to human life, making him look and act very alien. He has a notable overbite, causing his inch long hollow fangs to curl over his lower lip. He has a broad, flat nose and wide eyes with elliptical pupils. His eyes are a sandy grey, with very thin and almost transparent light lashes. He has poor eyesight but an excellent sense of smell due to his forked tongue and vomeronasal organ at the roof of his mouth. Connecting to his sinuses are two symmetrical lines of "pits;" heat-sensing organs just above his cheekbones, resembling the face of a ball python. His chin appears quite sunken, as the two halves of his jaw are not fused. Rather than skin, Lewis is covered in small keeled scales, all nearly circular except along his neck, chest, and belly, which have wide scutes. His hands and feet have sharp talons, resembling the claws of a monitor lizard. Lewis is five feet and nine inches tall, and has a slender build, and his scales are a dusty brown with grey spots down his spine.
Personality: Lewis is very quiet, often subdued and observant in social situations. He’s quite timid, and is often caught staring (due to his poor eyesight). While not very sociable, Lewis will sometimes become attached to a person and enjoy their company, while remaining indifferent to others. He almost never speaks.
Extra: He’s never told anyone where he came from, if he even knows. He was left in a dog crate at a police station when he was just 5 years old, and has been in various foster homes and care facilities since then.
Reason for in asylum: selective mutism and depressive behavior. Scientists in the asylum had him placed here to study him, as he failed to thrive in a more conventional environment.

Looks: Victor is tall with a lean, slightly muscular build. He has a slight accent indicating eastern Europe. He is very pale to the point of translucence, with light cyan veins clearly visible on his limbs and across his chest and collarbone. He has distinct purplish bruising under his eyes, though his hair frequently covers the left. This isn’t intentional, his left eye is milky white with a dark scar marring his skin from forehead to cheekbone. He calls it his “dead eye,” and as he can’t see out of it at all, he’s quite happy to leave it covered. His hair is flat jet black, falling just past his shoulders. His intact right eye is dark orange. He’s always wearing his dark grey uniform of a buttoned shirt and trousers, complete with a black police-style cap, black tie, black leather belt, and black shoes. He has a small gap between his front teeth.
Personality: Laid back and sympathetic. Victor is known for his generosity toward staff and patients, always willing to lend a helping hand. He’s a big softie, and sometimes sneaks treats or presents in for the patients.
Extra: Often escorts high-security patients to and from scheduled treatments and activities, or secures the perimeter outside.
