[@Cultural Titan] Dragons have reptilian features across the species, but their form and function can be incredibly diverse. They just all have dragon-y features, even if just cosmetically.

Pilot candidates require only two things to become Pilots: physical compatibility with the implants, and mental compatibility with the Dragon. That’s all. So, yes, there are Pilots like how you described- willing to put themselves through hell just to feel whole again.

Some regret it. Some don’t. Depends on what you consider a fair price.
