Mamoru took her bike to make it easier to get there, and brought a watermelon and a fruit knife to cut it. As she rode towards the hospital she saw a few places blocked off by police tape with cops and local heroes investigating the scene. It made Mamoru wonder if these were the places where the others got attacked. Thinking about them made Mamoru start to think again. Thinking about herself and what she’s done for herself so far, as well as for others. But before she could dwell on it she arrived to the hospital. Parking her bike nearby Mamoru walked in with her watermelon and went up to the receptionist. ”Hello! I’m here to visit Reina Mori, is this a good time?” After filling out a visitor’s form as well as showing that she was indeed Mamoru Akasha from Komei Academy, Mamoru would be escorted to Reina’s room by one of the hospital staff. Security reasons of course; as Reina was still wounded from her villain encounter, the hospital had to make sure that whoever visited her were legitimate friends and family. Once Mamoru arrived to the door she knocked once. ”Reinbow? Are you awake? I got a watermelon!” [@Aerandir][@Riegal]
Donny could only give Nia a quick but eager nod as he lead her back to his dormitory, since most of his ingredients were there. Though as he lead Nia back he was worried about something; he’s never used such strange ingredients before. While he might be humble about his cooking, it wasn’t a skill he was born with or had a talent for. It was just something he pursued when he was homeschooled, as a means to feel useful and literally feed his own broken emotional state at the time. Funnily enough if this was a cooking anime he would have been one of those characters who incidentally been cooking since they were a child; in Donny’s case since he was seven years old. Everything he knew and could do was earned from years and years of constant practice and pursuit of perfection. And yet he knew he had his limits too. He could replicate a dish down like a science, but he wasn’t so good at making something new. Sure he had been inspired to mix and match before, but that’s only after witnessing and tasting the food himself. He took other people’s ideas and made it his own. But he could never turkey make something of his own. That’s why Nia’s fruit scared him; he’s never heard of tomatoes that had texture like apples or mangos with the taste of melons. This was no an unexplored. Innovated and unknown. While it might seem small and insignificant for most people, for Donny he was exploring a new frontier. Or at least that’s how he’s hyping himself up. What he should be more concerned with is what he’s going to cook with tomatoes and mango. Fruit/Vegan dishes weren’t really his thing. He really didn’t have any idea how to make Nia’s fruit stand out on their own without simple making them into a condiment it mere additive to a dish. He needed to think of a way to make them into the main ingredient. One thing for certain, Donny needed to make two dishes. Even if these fruits were different from your average tomatoes and mango, he couldn’t think of a way to incorporate both into a dish. But this was good for Donny; break down the ingredients I to two separate problems with two different solutions rather than trying to solve them all at once. He should make a note of that for his actual hero career too. Once Donny arrives into his kitchen he seemed much more confident and far less meek. He went over to the sink to wash his hands and arms. ”Nia-San, wash up here if you’d please. There should be some aprons in that closet over there.” Donny pointed over to a supply closet which had aprons, hair nets, vrooms, and cleaning supplies. Donny’s own supplies were in a small locker he kept near the pantry. He retrieved his apron and headband, as well as a box of cooking knives. A new gift from his grandfather. Today he’ll christen them with a new meal with new ingredients. As he geared up Donny thought about what to make with the tomatoes. They tasted like apples, sweet and slightly sour, but had a tomato’s texture which was far more soft and juicy. Plus these tomatoes had a distinctive lack of the bitter-savory of most tomatoes he’s had, so using these as a sauce would garner a more sweet taste than that of Ketchup. So while not impossible to use, it did limit his options. That is, until he looked through his freezer. ”Ah of course! Pizza!” After he had been discharged from the hospital Donny had gone to an international bizarre to do some shopping. Originally he was just there to pick up cheese, but wanted to try and make pizza after seeing it made fresh. Granted he lacked the skill for the fancy dough throwing, and certainly didn’t have the two hours for the dough to fully bake. But he did buy a freshly made frozen pizza dough, so once that was defrosted he could conceivably make a pizza in a much more manageable forty minutes or so. So he’ll make the tomato’s into a marinara sauce. Admittedly, he had no idea how it’ll turn out. He’s made marinara sauce before, sweet ones too, but this would be a whole different beast. As he gathered the ingredients Donny then remembered that Nia was here and that she should do something to help too. Fortunately Donny had just the thing as he took out a huge block of mozzarella cheese, a knife, and a cheese grater. ”Nia-San, could you grate me about a pound of cheese?” Remembering that he was in Japan and not America, Donny took out his cellphone to do some quick recalculating. ”Or um… Half a kilogram of cheese. Please.” while Nia was working on that Donny went to defrost the pizza dough. A quick way he learned to do it without geat was to place the dough, while still wrapped, in a bowl of mildly cold water. As the water warms up to room temperature so will the dough. Not instant, but cooking requires patience. Once the dough was defrosted and the oven was preheating, Donny looked towards the tomatoes and the ingredients for his sauce.
