It might hurt the economy and livelihood of this nearby village, yet she knew that they could repay the people one day by freeing them from the Fire Nation's oppression. The flame barrier, from what she could tell, seemed to be working. She then continued to run with her companions, hanging towards the back of the group to provide additional defenses. The water benders were no doubt skilled, but Jia Li didn't want to leave it up to chance. She was prepared to either add to the fire or dispel any that was shot at them from the guards. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too long until they could find shelter and a change of clothes, but she knew that they wouldn't be able to stay long. They'd need to keep on working. Fire Nation soldiers were masters of tracking - she knew it would only be a matter of time before they found the Avatar, after all - and would catch up to them if they rested for more than a moment.
