The warden had been working his morning rounds for just a short while, starting first in the underground before moving into the upper regions. The sunlight beamed through the barred windows of the prison as the warden made ground level, making pockets of warmth that the warden only got to truly experience this time of day. He took a deep breath. The musky air smelling of feces and mold. The man was closer to the second level stairs now and working his way up. Soon he would get just a hint of salt water and sage that he man burned in the upper regions of the prison for the nobles and special cases, such as the Pirate King. For some reason the Prince decided was worth more then a scummy cell that lay in levels under him. Keys jingled at the man's hip as he would peak into each cell, clean out the corners and feed the inmates according to Prince Callum's orders. He didn't take much pride in his job, but Junia was known for their prison thanks to Prince Callum, and the warden, Joseph, wanted nothing more than to please his Prince. Upon reaching the stairs he heard what he had assumed were rats shuffling a crossed the stone floor, and sure enough when he reached the area he had heard to steps, there was nothing. "Stupid rats." Joseph said to himself before turning and knocking on the Pirates door. " Food?!" Meanwhile the morning guards were arriving to their posts. The light foot falls of the guards could barely be heard through the halls and courtyard. One guard with rusty red curls poking out from under his helmet turned into the garden and took a large stretch, extending his arms out into the air. "Hey! what are you doing?" The guard that had been standing watch before the redhead laughed and replied. "Staring at a bunch of flowers all night, quiet as a death out here last night." The two men both laughed before the night guard waved at the redhead and left back into the castle to find his bed. The redhead chuckled lightly before letting out a small yawn and looking out over the courtyard. The guard then saw something, not sure if it was a trick of the eye, but the guard went to investigate just in case. There was a shadow moving along the ground from behind trees and statues. The redhead slowly walked towards to figure "Who's there?! The guard called out. Of course as soon as he starts his shift something has to happen. Theo turned in his bed. A coolness rushed to his chest that the sleeping man loved. It felt like home with the smell of the ocean, and as he dreamed of Balu and his crew, and pillaging a new land. Taking what he wanted, and celebrating his riches with the closest thing he ever had to a family. Then a metallic ringing sounded throughout his head. Balu and his friends melted away and Theo shot awake. The realization of his prison and his inevitable death hit him like a brick to the chest. "What ever you have this morning." He called out to the warden who slide a gross oatmeal through the food slot and moved on. Theo looked down at the blanket, now sitting in his lap and remembered that Callum had been there last night. What time did he leave? The thought played through his mind as he rose to grab the barely edible food off the ground and took a lazy spoonful.
