He prefers fine clothes: slacks, dress shoes, blazers, etc. He will, when necessary, dress ‘down’ into a turtleneck and some jeans and a gold herringbone but otherwise he prefers his suits pressed and his cologne soft. Relationship Status: Single. Personality: Kamasi is subject to the same quiet and apparent detachment for which many Wakandans are known. Unlike his statesmen, Kamasi is not at all afraid of espousing himself or his peers. To say he is undeserving of his confidence is no exaggeration, for his laurels stem from his lineage; he wears his nationality as a badge of pride and is open about where he is from and what he has done or will do for his country and those from it. That source of pride comes with its own drawbacks--his mouth will see him at odds with those who are less inclined to bask in their own abilities. He wants to see others thrive, and is unabashed in trying to instill confidence in those around him (some say it makes him ‘annoying’ he likes to call it affirmative). He makes demands and expects them done, even if he is not in charge. He has no qualm in taking charge if he thinks others are inadequate at what they are doing. Of course, these outer layers are not thick as he presumes and Adwoa is rather drawn into himself when he feels he has failed himself and those around him. His moments of introspection come in strong, crippling bursts and he is at his most vulnerable then. Habits: Meddling with his clothes or his hair. The Adwoa tribe, of which Kamasi is the youngest child, was victim to such an attack by the much larger Hyena clan which ruled much of the land outside the Golden City. Many still died, but Kamasi managed to preserve the lives of six members of his village from harm--even bullets and knives would not hurt those six under his protection: those six being his mother and five other siblings. Kamasi remembers none of it. General History: Born outside Wakanda’s capital, Kamasi and his tribe were tiny when compared to the massive Hyena or the even larger and far more brutish Jabari. Vestiges of smaller clans who refused to follow the Panther cult and its leader banded together to brave the long and dark wilds that were Wakanda’s humid jungles and mysterious valleys. Where aid from the capital city took weeks and sometimes months to reach the tribes on the furthest reaches of the nation, Kamasi and his Sobek and Sekhmet tribal brethren learned to hunt, cook, and gather raw material for themselves. When various minor famines would sweep the outskirts, the men of the tribes were conscripted into Wakanda’s army or turned to pillaging neighboring villages for what they could find. Kamasi’s father were among those who joined these raiders, and Kamasi’s father had been idle from Kamasi’s life for most of his formative years. He would not see his father again until he was fourteen. Raised by his mother and the other matrons of the village, Kamasi grew to become a great hunter and warrior, perfecting his own style of knife throwing and projectile combat. By the time he was eleven, he had garnered a reputation as one of the finest hunters in the wilds and had even been invited to the capital city during one of the seasonal ukubuthwa. It is here he first meets Wakanda’s king, T’Challa--the Black Panther, and the nation's protector. A god in the eyes of those who grovelled outside his precious city’s walls. Kamasi hated him. Days, weeks, months, years pass--strange women and men had settled into Kamasi’s small village. Unbeknownst to the resident villagers, they were the Hatut Zeraze (or the War Dogs, the nation’s secret police force and spy network). When word began to spread around town about the next raid in Sobek-Sekhmet country, Kamasi was among the first child soldiers enlisted in with assisting the defense of his village. The night of the raid, some hundred and more men and women ambushed and even managed to kill two of the War Dogs; it was in the ensuing carnage that Kamasi’s latent mutant gene activated just as his mother and siblings were being drug out of their huts amid the fighting. When it was over, Kamasi remembered none of it. He woke up in the walls of the Golden City and was summoned to see the king himself. It turns out his father had been an insurgent; an agent of the king sent to monitor and report the famine in the regions outside the Golden City and suppress the rebellions occurring on the outskirts of the country. T’Challa, the king, the Black Panther, protector and god of this nation truly did live up to his legend--no matter how mortal he was. There was but one thing left to do With anti-mutant sentiment rife within the country, T’Challa saw fit to send young Kamasi to the hands of an old friend, one Charles Xavier, who would help him foster his unique gifts in a way Wakanda could not in its present state. Kamasi was put on a quinjet to the United States not long after where he was enrolled in Xavier’s Institute and resides to this day. It is here in the states that Kamasi has formed much of his identity: his love for style, his ego, his sense of self first--and these American sentiments are why why he can sometimes come across as more American than Wakandan. He has learned how to mesh the two societies well.
