Another point to Russell's semblance; if he does it, then it means he has hope. He has hope he'll be found, that he'll be saved, that he'll be helped. Sure, the Grimm might go away, or whoever is attacking him, but he'll hope to have someone there, hope to survive. If he wakes up alone, that'd be fucking terrifying for him, and the hope that someone would be there would be shattered. Plus, if he does it and is for whatever reason knocked down a hill or cliff or something, and wakes up down there... Well, how the hell does he figure out where to go? He knows roughly where he went, so he could roughly know his way bac- Oh god. What if he wakes up alone, but something stood on his leg and broke it?
