His father had this conceited concept of 'bravery'. Crying was a form of cowardice to him, so is backing away from a fight or challenge and such. Billy realized later on that 'bravery' has more to do with acknowledging ones fears and limits, rather than celebrating one's boldness. And it took so many people for him to affect, mostly for the worse, before he completely understands it.

Redemption

[color=gray][b]Fear[/b][/color] 
Lose control and accidentally kill someone because of it. May sound silly now but it's his only constant fear. And surely it's very likely, it [i]almost[/i] happened once.

[color=gray][b]Regret[/b][/color] 
Billy shared a strained relationship with his father since childhood, well to say the least. It would always get to the point when things turned physical. Among other things, for years he never forgave him for fucking up his life. When he got older, his father tried to reconnect with him, in every way he only could, Billy never acknowledged his efforts until the old man died trying, driving off to a snowstorm just to see him that day.

Served his time in juvi, during late middleschool up until first year of highschool for beating up a kid. Kid went into a coma, and turned paralyzed waist down after the incident.

[0] Aside from knowing his basic abc's, brain power isn't one of Billy's strongest suits. He has knowledge on things he specializes in but beyond that, not so much.

[0] The man isn't much of a talker. Either he doesn't care or he doesn't really know how. He'll respond in brief words and short nods when socialized, but will be seen spending his time by himself. Doesn't mean he'd  hate company though.

[5] Whatever the case, he'll face his problems head on and physically mostly. He's brave in that sense, but weak when it comes to will. Hence he may frequently loose his temper.

[6] Billy can endure pain longer than most. He developed a thick skin with physical battery as a child, and by his father's harsh hand. Plus being a native Alaskan had made him more tolerant to the cold.

[2] Billy may not have keen senses, but he will know enough if something is amiss. May it be reading his surroundings or other people.

[0] He grew up living a simple life with his family, and acquiring the things he wanted has always been a far fetched reality to him. Only when he got older that he learned, everything comes with a little bit of hard work.
