I'd say yes to the parents thing, if you'll allow it. The age gap wouldn't really be too large. Just like 2 years max.

John is a clone of Thunderbird from the earlier X-Men comics. Warpath and Thunderbird are brothers in comics, it's just that Thunderbird died and Warpath carried on the mantle. I was just running with the possibility of them both being cloned.

That could not be the case if you have an issue with it. I'd be cool with just the older-brother just being a figurehead for whatever secret stuff is going on here.
