Joe's wish didn't exactly come true, but it didn't stop him from trying. As a child Joe was energetic and enthusiastic, always trying new sports and games whenever opportunity came his way. He won some, he lost some, but it was the thrill of trying something new that drove him forward. But as he got older, Joe discovered that sometimes he'd go into something resembling a trance. When he was in this state, no basket was too high to jump, no track too long to run, no target too difficult to hit. Soon other children and adults noticed as well. Adults wondered if there was something special in Joe, while children accused him of cheating. Then arrived the letter, along with a witch, to explain everything what was going on with Joe. Naturally, Joe was excited to discover that he was a wizard, and that he was going to be taught magic in a special school somewhere in Scotland. He just couldn't wait to experience all the sports that could be played by magic. He was especially interested in the ones where you could play brooms with. He wasn't exactly disappointed, more like surprised, to be sorted into Ravenclaw. Joe had never considered himself nerd or otherwise academic before. Granted, he wasn't either one of those dumb jocks who was constantly at risk for being kicked out of the team for lacking sufficient grades. Joe simply didn't see studying as part of what he was. It was only years later that he realized that the Sorting Hat had reacted to Joe's creativity and uniqueness, namely his ideas of broom games and how they are played. What he was disappointed however was the broom games, or the lack thereof. Nothing but Quidditch, Quidditch, Quidditch. Granted, there were other broom games, but they were rarely, if ever, mentioned. Joe discovered most of them from Quidditch Through the Ages, which again showed what game magical people liked. It wasn't like he hated Quidditch or anything, he was in the Raveclaw team at one point, but there could have been more than one game. Another disappointment was that Joe wasn't that good with spells. However, he focused his skills on subjects with little requirement of spellcasting beyond a few, such as herbology and potions. Nonetheless Joe decided after a few years to return to Muggle World after graduating. Magical World had its charm, but it wasn't as exciting as Joe had hoped for. Many summers back home went in Summer School to learn subjects not taught at Hogwarts. After graduation Joe went to college in Muggle World, finally able to try a variety of sports. However, Joe's magic was still with him, giving him advantages fellow students didn't have. The next few years Joe spent pondering what to do or where to go, not really fitting anywhere. It was then that answer came almost godsend. Hogwarts now got a new headmaster, and he was looking for teachers who could make magic fun again. Joe signed up immediately. It was the perfect opportunity to give some diversity to sports in the Magical World. Favorite Hogwarts Memory: Joe had never really been interested in the whole Blood Purity nonsense, nor stereotypes it brings. However, the memories of old tend to linger. At his Sixth Year Joe saw a bunch of Hufflepuffs picking on a Slytherin, calling him monster, villain and the like. When Joe went to defend the boy, the Hufflepuffs asked why he'd side with a dark wizard. Joe then reminded them that nobody should be considered evil or good because of where someone sleeps. He also reminded the Hufflepuffs of the Badger King, which made them take back their claim that their house produced no dark wizards. He finally encouraged the young Slytherin not to care what other students say, for outside of the school no one asks what house you were in. Secondary Section Waiting for filling
