Soup

There was a loud crash from the cafeteria, followed by another, then some shouting, and finally the culprit power-walked out of the mess, barely dodging a spoon that whizzed past her head as she cradled her freshly nicked bowl of chicken soup in her arms. Another successful heist, another bowl liberated. Soup grinned as she turned on her heels and walked backwards away from the mess hall, waving at the soldier that she had managed to steal from, before giving him a wink and picking up the previously thrown spoon. “Cheers, owe ya big time!” She taunted back at him as she quickly brushed off the spoon, then plunged it into the bowl, then into her mouth, still keeping eye contact and a grin with the robbed man. It was all in jest, of course, and she’d probably make it up to him another day. Though not today. Today was, in fact, a special day. She had two missions today, her first being the liberation of soup, as normal, however her secondary mission was perhaps a bit more important. There was an Operation underway, the first one she had an opportunity to join, and like hell was she going to let it slip past her. She needed to stick it to the Emergence, and this was her first chance to do so with Griffin. She started making her way to the hangar, downing the soup as fast as humanly possible since she wouldn’t be allowed to take it with her, which, given the temperature of the soup, was leaving quite the burn. A few more minutes of walking later, and she had arrived at her destination without any sign of the bowl from before. She had dumped it in a bin on her way there. She could think straight sometimes, after all. Finally feeling confident, she strode right up to the VTOL Ronan, Shahab, and Laleh were riding in, and gave them all a salute, trying to look about as formal as she could. All things considered, she was basically a civilian compared to everyone else, so how successful she was in appearing formal and soldier-y was up in the air. ”Reportin’ for duty sirs an’ ma’am, pardon the look, came here as fast as I could after getting some grub. Do I uh, grab the weapons myself, or’ll we be given ‘em? I’m a bit new to this, sorry.” She held the salute for a while longer, before finally dropping it and placing her hands behind her back respectfully. She had seen other soldiers do it, so she gave it a shot too.
