After a full minute of just relaxing, letting the hot water do it's work on his joints, stiff from riding, he sighs contently and sits up. Reach over the lip of the tub to the small rack hanging from the thick wood he pulls out the hair care products and goes to work cleaning the road dust from his scalp. 'It is so much easier for vampires to keep clean, having to sweat or the like, but dust has always been an unavoidable evil that both races must bare' As soon as his hair is clean he scrubs over his body quickly and stands. Looking over to the other basin his brows furrow. 'I did not hear him leave, wh-' His thoughts are cut short by the little one's head breaching the surface of the water. 'Ah, I see' Leaning against the edge of the tub he watches the boy scrub himself and after a few seconds he makes a decision. Moving carefully out of his bath he moves over to James's and waits for him to finish. Glancing back at the hygiene rack he nods at the sight of a little pair of scissors before turning back to the newborn. He smiles at the question and nods. “Yes, we may do your hair now, however a slight change before that.” Reaching into the water he scoops the boy out of the filthy water and carries him other to the other bath. Slipping him down into the still steaming water he climbs into the tub behind the boy and has him take a set on the stool, facing away so he has easy access to the blond mop. “Now little one, hold still and keep your head back when I tell you to.” With that he begins the grizzly duty of scrubbing the unruly honey colored locks. It takes him several minutes to wash it clean, his fingers working right down to the scalp to get at all the grim that had gathered there since the boy was re-born, and maybe even before. Once he's sure it's completely clean he slicks James's hair with conditioner and lets it sit for a few minutes. All the while he can feel it. His blood coursing through the other's veins, the action binding them in an ancient and indescribable way. “Head back while it sets. Do not need it running down into your eyes.” He murmurs. 'It really has been a long time since I have sired one. Even if James is not mine, the bonding seems to be going well' His fingers run up to the already healing wounds on his neck. 'I know many of my kind drink from one another for fun, but it really is different with a newborn. I have only once let anyone other than my own taste me and it was for more. . . Uncomfortable than it was thrilling' Rinsing the conditioner out he works out all the knots he can before it's all gone, and is left with only a few hopeless mats. “Now I just need to trim these out and we are set for now. Do not move, these are sharp.” Reaching over to the rack he scoops up the scissors and carefully pulls up one of the mats. Wrapping a hand around the boy's forehead he pulls him back against his chest to help him keep still as he snips the three tangled masses from the now pristine hair. Once he is done he sets the scissors down and picks the boy up again. 'He is so tired' He muses, slipping into his own robe before wrapping one around the slick body in his arms. Moving quickly he scoops up the blood soaked trousers and makes his way back to their room. Dropping the rags by the fire pot he moves a chair close to it's warmth and sets James down in it. Using the sleeves from the robe he does his best to dry his hair before doing his own and letting out a sigh. Picking the boy up once more he leaves the robe on the chair and pulls the covers back with his foot, settling the young man on the clean sheets. Moving back to the chair to settle his own robe on the back of the chair Dorian crosses back to the bed and climbs in with a groan on contentment. “Now you may sleep little one.” he murmurs, settling on to his back with his arms up under the pillows. Slipping one hand down he pulls the covers up to just above the bottom of his ribcage, relishing the cool evening air mixed with the heat from the fire. His arm slides back under the pillow and he gets comfortable.
