The Beggars are a decent choice, indeed. They've got some rivalries, some serious internal issues, and some general respect by the other factions (whether that's because they don't want their secrets spilled or out of genuine respect is an open question, though). The national group they are a part of is actually called "Ren," rather than Han, because I wanted to try to be a little original. xD As for a scarf as a weapon, you could go with the Beggars' Fraternity, but you could also go with something else. There are a number of yin aligned sects, cults, and schools that I have in mind, including, for instance, the Blossoming Pheonix Society, which focuses on training high-class women in martial arts, feminine arts (such as society expects them to be), and even the arts of a courtesan, though they are mostly women. There's also potential in something like an exotic weapons school, which focuses on flexible weaponry, and putting their qi/inner force/what-have-you into such objects to make them effective weaponry. What I'm getting at is that the list above isn't exhaustive, and that I'm more than willing to work with players to build up sects, schools, clans, or cults that suit their character concepts.
