The young man stands at a 6’2’’ with broad shoulders and a muscular build which he gained from working in the fields with his father when he was young. So tall and broad are descriptive terms that usually follows him. Phil also takes care of his body and mind doing yoga and and meditating in the gardens and forests around the campus. The son of Demeter has a very kind and round face speckled with freckles from being out in the sun. He is usually seen with a calm smile accented with dimples. His eyes have been described by his mother as having the color of the sun shining through the treetops. But to him they’re just green with speckles of hazel mixed in. Then again his mother has always been a bit dramatic. His large hands are calloused from harvesting grain and baking bread back home, digging around in the garden without gloves has also contributed to them getting to this rough state. When it comes to clothing Phil chooses comfort before style. Usually he dresses in loose shirts and jeans, or large sweaters. He is known to be seen in his dirt covered denim overalls tending to the garden by himself.
[sub]Personality[/sub]
Warm – Caring – Charitable – Passive – Emotional – Hotheaded - Spiteful Something that Phil has inherited from his mother is his caregiving nature. Be it around his friends when he bakes and cooks for them or around the gardens and fields of the campus. He is filled with a feeling that he needs to take care of all. Though this is a responsibility put there by himself so he might come of more overbearing some of the time. But it all comes from a place of caring and giving. He wears his emotions on his sleeve. You will know when he is in a good mood with the warmth and happiness radiating from the large boy. But on the flip side when Phil is angry or in one of his funks everyone will know. If he can’t shake his foul mood even the weather will show it, the rain will not stop and the windchill picks up real fast. Passive to the core, Philomelus will never start a fight and will try to the very last minute to use his words and actions to get out of an altercation. He will only use his proficiency in hand to hand combat in self defense or if he feels that someone needs protecting. If something or someone irritates him he will lose his cool pretty fast and he will chew you out about what you might have done. And if you are unlucky enough to get on his bad side he will have a hard time letting it go. Like that one son of Poseidon who trampled through his small field of young wheat, Phil saw to it he went hungry for a week by making all of his groceries rancid and rotten as soon as he bought them.
[sub]History[/sub]
The little bell above the door of Adrien Fournier’s farmers bake shop chimed on a lazy sunday afternoon. In walked the most beautiful woman that Laurant had ever laid eyes on. The woman said that the smell of his shop enticed her to come in. The woman's face lit up when she saw all of the exquisit baked goods and bread. She asked if she could have a taste of anything. The mysterious woman explained that she had been traveling for such a long time and was so very hungry but she had no money. The kind hearted Adrien just smiled and went out back and fetched a freshly baked loaf of bread, butter and a cup of hot tea. “This will revive the most tired of traveler” he said and offered her a table. There they sat for hours talking. The woman revealing that she was in fact Demeter the Goddess of the harvest. This act of kindness and Adrien's passion for his small farm and shop was what made Demeter fall for him. The farmer took her out back and showed her his small wheat fields which the goddess blessed to be bountiful for years to come. But that was not the only thing Demeter blessed Adrien with. After a few visits to his small town she brought him a little baby boy one spring day. “Raise him as you have been raised. The world needs more men like you.” Demeter said as she set of to travel onwards. A mission that Adrien gladly took on. He had been longing for a son, though he hoped that Demeter would've stayed with them but he also understood that she couldn't. Adrien named his son Philomelus after the patron of Agriculture to honor Demeter. Phil grew up under his father's watchful eye in the wheat fields and in the bakery. That is where he found his love for baking bread and watching the joy it said braid gave their customers. Their relationship has become rather strained since Phil tries to please his mother every time she comes around without much success. He doesn’t like to admit it but he knows his mother cares more for her daughters.
[sub]Demigod Abilities[/sub]
[sub]Photosynthesis[/sub] Just like the grains and plants Phil uses the sun to gain energy. It heals him if he’s hurt and it makes him stronger. He can also store the energy so that his stamina is like that of the gods of olympus. The drawback of this is if the sun should be blocked by the clouds and he runs out of energy it will take him longer to recover. [sub]Let’s get this bread[/sub] The bread that Phil bakes has very special properties. Just one loaf can last you a month and will never mold or go bad. One slice of the loaf will fill you up for the day. He usually give them out to the students who are heading out in the rocky mountains for long hikes. [sub]Nourishing hands[/sub] Through his hands Phil can make plants spring to life. He can plant a seed and if he hold his hands over the soil the seed will sprout in to a fully grown plant in a matter of minutes. But with life there is always death, with his hands he can also sap the nourishment from the flora around him to take on their properties. If he takes the energy from a the poisonous nightshade, he can administer a poisonous jab. If he steals the energy from a aloe vera plant a stroke of his hands can soothe any skin ailment.
