⛤[[Welcome]]⛤
Hello and welcome to my humble 1x1 interest check. My name is Malice, your friendly neighbourhood goth-kid who never grew up. I'm a twenty-something Brit with over a decade of roleplaying experience both on and offline; everything from one liners on MSN (those were the days) right through to DMing my own D&D campaigns. (I'm a horrible DM, by the way, because I love creating chaos.) I'm currently working as a lecturer, but I'm a trained forensic anthropologist, so feel free to ask about the literal skeletons in my closet. If you love tea, gin or guinea-pigs, we'll get along just fine. [sub]
[[Update: Jan '21]]
[/sub] New year, new me! Or something. Yeah, definitely something. I've been out of the roleplaying scene for the last year, but I figure it would be fun to get back into it. So help a guy, gal, non-binary pal out? I do need to go through my plots at some point, but the list is there for your perusal. Look forward to hearing from you soon, ey? [sub]
[[Update: Dec '19]]
[/sub] I do owe replies, as I have fallen behind on everything due to my PhD. However, I am hoping to get things back on track this week. Due to a couple of my partners taking their leave due to illness, I have a couple of cravings, which is really what I'm looking for at the moment (listed below). [sub]
[[Update: Sep '19]]
[/sub] Tentatively returning to the site, but potentially open to a few more roleplays. I am predominantly now writing on Discord/Google Docs, but can be persuaded to go for threads or PMs here, though it would not be my preference. Also, I have become much pickier about who I write with now, as I prefer a few, solid partners who I can write well with. Please, please read through my criteria before messaging me, as I'd rather not waste your time. =)

[sub]
[[What I Can Offer]]
[/sub]

Genders & Pairings - I play male, female, NB and everything in between! For the same reason, I will play any and all pairings (MxM, FxF, MxF and so on). Caveat: just because I am happy to play male characters does not mean you can insist that I play a dom male to your female; that is the quickest way to get me to ignore your request. Having a personal gender preference is one thing, but demanding I play a certain role is quite another. [[EDIT]] I love roleplays where we mess with gender roles, or anything tat is not a more 'usual' dynamic. By that same note, the whole 'strong, gruff male and delicate female' trope bores me to tears; if you want that, look else where, I just can't do it.
18+ Themes - I like exploring mature themes, such as substance abuse, homo/transphobia, mental health, prostitution and so on. However, I do ask that if we are going to include such themes that we do so respectfully. I'm also a fan of horror, so violence and gore is fine by me. (For the record; we do not need to include mature themes, violence, etc. in any of our roleplays; I enjoy light and fluffy! I just wanted to explain my personal limits.)
Romance - Can be fun, but absolutely not necessary! I'm just as happy roleplaying platonic relationships as romantic ones. However, when it comes to romance I generally prefer it to be a secondary plot and develop naturally; too often I've have to force a character to be interested in someone they're just not compatible with, and it just ends up clunky and no fun for anyone.
Plotting - I enjoy plotting. I enjoy world building and character development. I want to get creative here, I want something long term and lasting.
Genres - I love fantasy, be it high, low, dark or otherwise. Cyberpunk and dystopias are my lifeblood and are my preference over inter-planetary sci-fis, but all are good. I enjoy horror and thrillers, but even more than that I adore a good comedy romp (think Sean of the Dead or Terry Pratchett's work). Usually I prefer some element of fantasy in my roleplays, but can definitely be convinced for a real world, modern type with the right plot, cast and partner.
Posting - I write at a high casual/low advance level, with posts between 300-1000 words depending on the scene. I generally respond once or twice a week; more if I have the time. I do try to keep my status updated if I think I won't be able to reply within a week, or I will PM you to let you know.
Writing Sample - If you are curious to know how I write, feel free to have a read through this sample, which was an intro post of mine to an Arthurian style story.
⛤ The sun shimmered through the leaves overhead, dappling the packed earth in a mosaic of bright light and shadows, the image shivering as the wind blew through the trees. It was a welcome wind; not too heavy as to cause one to run for shelter, but enough to soothe the burn of the sun on bare skin. Arturia’s head was inclined skyward, eyes closed, as she soaked in the warmth, the air, the feeling of freedom. If anyone were to gaze her way, they would have noted she looked serene, content; neither an emotion that usual with the Princess. The rhythmic sway of her mount, coupled with the steady clack of hooves and the sounds of surrounding nature, had all helped to lull her into meditative like state. Though Arturia loved her Kingdom, and would give her life for it, she savoured any opportunity presented to her in which she might be able to disregard her duties, even if only for a little while. She would never run from them, not truly, but the occasional escape was a welcome thing. Arturia knew she would have less chances to simply enjoy being alive when she became King. Out in the woods like this, Arturia was dressed not far differently from her comrades. Her light weight armour, as was best suited for hunting, though wrought at a finer level than the others was uncomplicated in its design, unlike the ornate harness she wore for ceremony. Strikingly fiery hair was pulled back into a simple braid that fell over one shoulder, and Arturia was as hot and bothered and covered in the same layers of dirt and grime as the rest of the party. Truthfully, right now, if one did not know who she was by reputation alone, it would have been very easy to reject the notion that she was nobility. Arturia did not look in any way a ‘princess’; to say she took no care in her appearance would have been false, but there was veracity in the fact that she made no effort to enhance her femininity. Even her build spoke of someone who worked hard labour, with limbs showing defined, lithe muscle, than that of a delicate woman who wiled her days away with music and poetry. It was not to say thay Arturia was not refined, not regal; after all, she was to be the future King of this land. She merely eschewed social conventions afforded to her gender, instead focusing on what she could do, seeking power and political support for more than what lay between her legs. From her position at the head of the party, and so lost in her own world, Arturia was blissfully unaware of the teasing and bickering behind her. It was the sound of approaching hoofbeats that finally broke Arturia from her reverie, her hand instinctively going to the hilt of the sword at her waist. “Gawain,” Arturia responded curtly, narrowing hazel eyes in annoyance. She dropped her hand from her sword; Gawain, for all his flaws, was not an enemy. “I’d take us faster, but I fear you might get left behind, and I don’t believe my father would take kindly to me losing a knight,” she added; while she was teasing back in kind, there was a certain bite to her words that had been missing from Gawain’s. “We’ll go back when we go back,” Arturia said, looking forward, avoiding Gawain’s gaze. Arturia knew she could trust every knight here with her life; and she did. She just didn’t trust them with the deeper aspects of herself. Arturia had always been guarded, right from childhood, but it was not necessarily a hindrance; though not in the Pendragon family, the Princess knew of nobles and aristocrats who had worn their hearts on their sleeves, and quickly found themselves taken advantage of by the schemingly perceptive. Arturia could call all those present her friends, certainly, but only two did she consider that companionship close and familial over professional. Gwynfor, her betrothed, was like a brother to her, and Lancelotte, the one other woman in their group. There was a lot to be said for female solidarity, of having a friend who did not just know, but understood the hurdles that Arturia faced. “Gawain, I think-“ the princess was cut off by the shrieking of an unknown beast in the underbrush. Her mount reared up in fear, but Arturia was, fortunately, an experienced enough equestrian to cling to the saddle to prevent herself being thrown. Pulling tightly on the reins, Arturia was able to regain control of her horse, though it trotted left and right, clearly anxious and wanting to run, whinnying irritably. Arturia looked up in time to see a wounded deer streak across the path in front of her, nearly colliding with her mount’s forelegs. There was shouting from the direction the deer had come from, and it sounded like a number of voices, angry at that. Arturia’s hand dropped to her hilt once again; perhaps whoever they were, they would pass without confrontation, but she was not about to bet on it.
Genders - ideally you will play both male and female characters. If you want a MxF plot, I'd at like to at least be given the opportunity to play the leading lady, please and thank you. [[EDIT]] I play a lot of trans/NB characters; while I am not saying I will, as I play plenty of cis characters too, if this makes you uncomfortable, please look elsewhere. I'm very LGBT+ friendly, and do not like to write alongside people who are not.
Posting Level - I'd like someone of a similar roleplaying level to me. Certainly no one liners. However, I do firmly believe that quality is more important than quantity and I'd rather a shorter, more succinct post than one with pointless fluff filler. This means I'm looking for someone who writes 300-1000 words a post and feels they are high casual/low advance level.
Posting Frequency - I'm a patient person and for the right partner I'm willing to wait for my responses. Ideally I'd like at least one response a week, but I do understand that real life takes priority, so this isn't a hard rule. All I ask is that you keep me updated; if you don't think you'll be able to post for a fortnight, that's absolutely fine, no explanation necessary, just let me know.
Plotting - I'd love for you to be able to contribute to our plotting and world building, rather than having me lead the game. I'm not here to DM; I want a joint endeavour.
Long Term - I'd love it if we could create somehing that we're still writing in months or even years.
Writing Sample - preferred, but not required. I just think it would give me a chance to see how you write and judge whether I think our styles will meld well together. I can also provide one on request. [[EDIT]] Kind of feel I need to insist on this, as many people I've planned with I've later found out in the first few posts that they do not have a writing style that works with mine.

[sub]
[[Plots & Prompts]]
[/sub] I never fully develop a plot, because I enjoy creating it with my partner. I don't want to give you a cookie cutter story for you to place a character in; this is something we will build together. As such, my plots are short and simple, with room for changes and expansion. Pick and mix, add your own ideas, let's get creative! (All plots have the potential for romance elements if desired.)

⛤
[s]Two warring Kingdoms finally reach a decision of peace. To secure this, they each marry off a child from the royal family. One Kingdom is full of tradition and magic, arcana and the Old Gods. The other is a realm of technology, steam and machines. What happens when these two are forced into a marriage to secure their Kingdoms' peace? (I have a character written up for this, but I am willing to write new characters if necessary.)[/s]
⛤
A fantasy world is on the verge of a crisis and a prophecy speaks of someone from another world being the saviour. This world is trying to summon the hero, and in doing so summons character A; only character A does not seem to be the stereotypical hero type at all. Queue some people believing they summoned the wrong person, others believing that character A cannot save them and a few who do put faith in character A. Character B, a native to the world, I'm thinking would either be assigned to protect the hero/join them on the journey/otherwise wind up involved in the mess, depending on how we decide to move forward with the plot.
⛤
[s]This plot is based on a dream I had, so its pretty fuzzy and definitely open to further input/development from my partner! In this world there are certain benevolent 'spirits' that help keep the world safe; they are extremely powerful, but also extremely vulnerable and rare (there are, perhaps, only a handful of these spirits in the world). Each spirit has a human (or humanoid) guide, who cares for and protects it as it grows into its fully fledged form. Lyra is one such human; she belongs to a nomadic tribe and both of her parents were spirit keepers also. However, her parents were killed in an accident (I mean, they were mauled by wolves, which makes no sense given these spirits shoulda kept them safe, but dream logic) and so now she is alone in the world, trying to navigate it while keeping both herself and her spirit safe. There are people in this world who want to capture the spirits and/or their keepers, so that they can bend them to their will, and use them for malevolent purposes. During her travels, Lyra comes across an orphaned boy in the forest (a Mowgli type character), who rescues her from a monster and helps teach her how to live in the forest, and a friendship blossoms. The boy then helps Lyra get her spirit to the far north so that it can evolve into its true form. Yes, I have oddly detailed dreams. So, the world felt very 'Avatar' esque, although there were also scenes set in the real world, so I'd be up for adapting this to be wholly fantasy or more urban fantasy. I think I'd like something where Lyra and the boy (or girl, any gender really, your choice) meet and then travel this world trying to protect themselves from the dangers (either people after Lyra and/or the general dangers of being two young people orphaned in the world). If there is another role you'd like to play or any alterations to the vague plot I have, feel free to message me! I'd love to develop this into something bigger![/s]
⛤
In an alternative reality, many creatures lurked in the night, hiding in the shadows. Two hundred years ago, the vampires formed an uprising and became the dominant race. Huge domes were erected over cities to create an eternal night, while humans were enslaved and farmed for food. But there is disrest in the capital. Humans are unhappy with their vampire overlords and an underground rebellion is forming. But what happens when a rebel comes in close contact with one of the most politically powerful vampires? Potential characters: vampires, rebels, non-vampire super-naturals (e.g., werewolves, ghosts), which can be working with or against the vampires Note: for me, vampires are monsters and this is how I expect them to be portrayed in this plot idea. No sparkles, yo.
⛤
The city is a melting pot of different cultures and races; it is outside of the many other kingdoms and works on its own rules. It's the place that youngsters run away to to start adventures when they tire of their homes, or the place where spies and traitors meet to exchange information. The city is mercenary, but liberal. While wandering the ruins of the outer city (uninhabited for hundreds of years), the characters come across an ancient being who needs to be returned to their people to prevent a world wide catastrophe. (Can play as this ancient creature, who needs help returning home, or as someone joining my character on their adventure to return said creature.)
⛤
In a world where humans are sold and bought like cattle, blood sports have become a favoured past time of the rich. through pure coincidence, once of these fighters happens across a high ranking member of society (a noble, perhaps even royalty) involved in something truly scandalous, soemthing not wholly legal. The noble has to convince the fighter (who is at the lowest rungs of society) to keep these secrets. What begins as a dubious partnership slowly becomes an odd sort of friendship, perhaps even more. Of course, if it were ever to come to light that two people were not only willingly spending time together, but cavorting, it would truly be a death sentence for the fighter and becoming a social pariah for the noble (which is surely the same as death, no?). Queue scandals and intrigue and romance and all kinds of shenangians. Note: I would prefer to play the fighter character here. I think it would be interesting if it were MxM in a world were such romance is unacceptable, but I'd be fine with other romantic pairings also.

⛤
What happens when you come across an old friend who you could have sworn had died years ago? What happens when you find out that said friend is possessed by a demonic entity, hiding out in human bodies so as to evade being caught by angels, in response to having tried (and failed) to lead a rebellion against God?
⛤
Based on an odd dream I had. Character A finds themselves and/or their family in extreme danger. Character B, who is in the top echelons of one of the city's most formidable gangs. After a chance encounter, Character B offers to make all of Character A's problems go away, in return for not only joining their gang but being directly subservient to them. Can either be modern or we can introduce urban fantasy elements.
⛤
What happens when you wake up in a place you have never seen before with no recollection of how you got there? What happens when you realise you have died and you are in purgatory; your goal here is to somehow journey this plane, finding the answer to the questions that troubled you when you were alive. You will have to literally fight your demons if you ever want to move on. Potential character ideas: recently dead, reaper/guide
⛤

⛤
An explorer finds themselves on a planet of sentient, but tribal and violent aliens. One such creature offers to help them in their journey, in return for being taken off of the planet. Just what are they hiding from? (Originally concieved as a sci-fi set on science fantasy planet; this can easily be changed to a high fantasy situation, with the creature wanting to flee the country rather than the planet.) (I have a character written up for this, who I would very much appreciate the opportunity to use again, but I'm happy to discuss a change in roles.)
⛤
Based on an old novel concept that died a death; one fan said it felt like a 'modern Frankenstein'. The year is 2087 and technology has progressed far, particularly in human augmentation. Predominantly, cybernetics are restricted for the army or the powerful, but if you delve into the dark net, you will find a community of bio hackers. Here, disgraced surgeons and home-grown 'body artists' produce pioneering modifications for anyone willing to pay; but these mods are not always safe. Most of these unauthorised modifcations find themselves used by criminals, hackers and underground fighting and so on. There is one person who seems to be at the top of this, producing the wildest modifications. What happens when the police are sent to investigate and uncover the identity of this black market artist?
⛤
Survival in a dying city; the city has been hit by a plague and its borders have been closed to contain it. There is no way in, but also no way out. The city has become chaotic and tribal. What is life like for the survivors in this city? (This one can go anywhere, open to further development on this one.)
⛤

⛤
Less of an actual plot and more of a concept that could be interesting to play out (or it could be a complete disaster). You have probably heard of DID (previously multiple personality disorder); hell, you might even have characters with this trait. So here's the kicker; what happens when two writers (i.e., us) write for different personalities of one person? For this, we would likely need to have other characters on the side, but the main idea is having us both control two (or more) personalities of one person. The plot surrounding this could literally be anything. As I said, this could either being interesting or fun, or a bonfire waiting to happen.
⛤
What if your character could break the fourth wall? What if your character could see all those dumb plot holes and MacGuffins from the start and let you know about it? Let's take a magical, mystical romp in a roleplay without rules. Want to be chasing dinosaurs? Great. Bored of that? Cool, let's switch to the apocalypse with some spurious invention previously unheard of in the game. Let's give ourselves complete creative liberty, allow madness to ensue and watch what happens as our characters are forced to play along, while likely bitching at us for our lack of any serious continuity. (I have actually done this several times, and it is surprisingly entertaining.)

⛤ Any sort of twisted fairy tale type roleplay. ⛤ Slice of Life with supernatural/fantasy elements. ⛤ Literally anything cyberpunk/dystopian (maybe some illegal human experiments?) ⛤ Anything with a serious White Wolf's World of Darkness feel, because I live for that world (gothic/punk fantasy) ⛤ I've an idea for a setting but no real plot; Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking-Glass but with a sci-fi twist instead of the usual Victoriana. ⛤ Your own ideas! Chuck 'em my way, worst I can do is say no.

I have a slew of characters who I've already created, love and would love to write some more. Feel free to have a gander and let me know if you'd like to world build around any of them. In particular, I am craving to write with the following characters again and will love you forever if you give me the opportunity to do so; ⛤ Currently none

⛤ My Role x Your Role ⛤ Bad Boy x Good Girl/Boy (MxA) ⛤ 'Pet' x Owner (non-kink) (AxA; see here for more details ⛤ Reaper x Human/Reaper/Supernatural (NBxA) ⛤ Noble x Guard (FxA) ⛤ Science Experiment x Science Experiment/Scientist (AxA) ⛤ Drug User/Prostitute x New User/Undercover Cop (MxA)
Currently Craving - Honestly it's been so long, who knows any more? Probably something on the lighter side while I get back into my creative process, although I've a few characters who I'm always up for writing. Message me, and we can discuss.

So there you have it! A plethora of information and ideas that will hopefully lead to us creating worlds together. If you have got this far I'm going to assume you're interested in writing with me, so go ahead and drop me a PM. Tell a bit about yourself, tell me your favourite book/film/animal, tell me what plot(s) have taken your fancy, if any, or let me know you'd like to brainstorm something entirely new. I look forward to hearing from you.
⛤
