One day, many many years ago, there were superheroes. In the mid to late 1800's, the fantastic abilities of chosen people showed the rest of the world that Humanity was standing on the edge of a cliff where at the bottom lay untold power and unknowable secrets. Lone Rangers, Silver Saviors, Masked Men in a heist car. With this amazing power, people could not let their daily lives get in the way of something so much more important, so they become someone else, something else. As the Era of invention came in, these super-people were gone without a trace. A full generation of people with powers, but they all lacked the ability to pass them on to their children. As World Wars came and went, science progressed, and the stories of parents and grandparents who could lift impossible weights and fly became nothing but crazy rumors. The world had tricked itself into believing that these things had never happened. Media took these people, turned them into characters for enjoyment, and the listeners, readers, and watchers all took in this information happily without knowing that it was more real than they could imagine. The year is 2020, and you wake up to something new. Many people do. Many did. For the past three years, powered people have been popping up like wildflowers. Inspired by the stories passed on for more than a hundred years, people became more than they ever wanted. Thinkers and tinkerers have pushed science to new limits thanks to their own powers and the study of others. However, this advancement goes both ways. Of course it would be too much to ask everyone to use their powers and abilities for the betterment of mankind. Cranius, Blare, Voltic, and many other supervillains came into being knowing that few could challenge their power. Unfortunately, like-minded individuals tend to come together, and worked alongside each other to bring forth a wave of evil that few could withstand. In the Californian supercity Bell Reach has become the new stage for metahuman activity. Both good and bad have been making their way to Bell Reach to prove their worth. Are you a front-runner looking for the spotlight? Or a gifted passer-by caught in the crossfire? With such a surprising amount of metahumans in one area, and the amount of metahumans pursuing a career in heroics or villainy having long broken the triple digits, how long will it be until you join the cause to help make a better world?
Welcome to Bell Reach, a southern California coast town that has been gaining a reputation as the city where heroes are born. First developed as a company-based town for Aprico, a scientific development company, it has since attracted people of every ilk, hoping to put their name in the history books to be remembered long after they're gone. Marshall Landers, the mayor of Bell Reach, has gone on the record saying that people of astonishing feats will not be discriminated against, though his words are mostly to keep votes. Many world leaders have gone on the record saying the same thing, but not because it's what they want. The Superhuman population is quickly rivaling the regular populace, and with powers being "given out" with reckless abandon, its more or less mass confusion and uncertainty for the future than fearing superhumans. Not to say that places like Bell Reach haven't unwillingly become homes to radical groups hoping to stop this global development, but the rate at which people started getting powers was too fast for anyone to be able to make strong conclusions about. The Bastion is a group of superheros who appeared in Bell Reach soon after people started to display their powers in an event that people have started to call "The Boom", but these individuals showed control and finesse like none others at the time, leading some to speculate if they were active heroes before The Boom. With the rise of villain leagues to cause havoc, even the heroes of The Bastion might need a little help.

Welcome to Power Play! In this new age powerful technology and astounding powers, anyone can be a hero. In the world of rising stars, some want to steal that fame and fortune by any means necessary. Some are just in it for the chaos of it all. The world needs people to protect it, but all heroes need to follow a set of rules. Rules: Please keep everything respectable. There is a time and place for R18 material, but this isn't it. No Metagaming/Godmodding. I understand that everyone has crazy powers, but nobody is perfect. Please be nice to your fellow RPers! Cooperation and collaberation are welcomed and celebrated! If anyone has and beef, please keep things reasonable, and don't be afraid to pull me aside to make a ruling. Respect your GM. With that said, my word is law. I will happily accept criticism, but I will not tolerate rudeness and harassment to myself or anyone else here. Please allow two or three posts to be made before you post again. Have fun! If anything else comes up, we'll figure it out, but it's always good to have the general rules in peoples minds.
