Example Sheet: My Character
Name: Lucius Artorius Moderatus, Dux Britanniarum (Lucio Arturio Mordrado, Duce Britanico, in Britannic Romance) Explanation of Timeline: The timeline involves a unified Britain that was born out of the descendants of the Romanized Britons as opposed to the Germanic Angles, Saxons and Jutes. In this timeline, Britain remains a romanized realm, ruled by a Romanized, Latin-speaking nobility. The Germanic peoples were rendered a non-threat after their defeat by Lucius Artorius Castus Iunior and Ambrosius Aurelianus. Later, after the would-be king Lucius Artorius Moderatus allied with the Germanic peoples of Kent and Anglia in an attempt to put down rebelling nobles, the Germanic peoples in Britain were completely eradicated by the Romans as punishment. Backstory: Roman withdraw from the Island of Britain was a devastating decision made by a dying empire as it gradually crumbled from a mixture of internal and external stresses. The inhabitants of the British Isles, who had depended upon the Romans for protection, felt the effects immediately as their home was invaded by new peoples arriving from across the sea, the Saxons, Angles, and Jutes. With the lack of proper military on the island, the Germanic invaders were able to make quick work of anything in their path, rapidly expanding. However, the presence of Romans on the island was not totally gone with the order for the military to vacate. A few remained, including a local military dynasty descended of the Genus Artoria. All coming from the legendary British military leader Lucius Artorius Castus, these descendants quickly took up arms to organize an offensive against the Germanic invaders, originating in the western mountains and pushing east. A second individual name Lucius Artorius Castus managed to establish his own realm against the Saxons, declaring himself to be the new Dux Brittaniarum, with the help of an army of Romans containing the legendary Ambrosius Aurelianus and managed to drive back the Saxons so that they would never be a threat to the Britons again. For the first time since the Romans, Britain was united once more under a central authority, ruling from the city of Camulodunum in the East. However, the death of the new King, Lucius Artorius Castus Iunior, the country fell into turmoil as individuals vied to become the legitimate successor. Among these was the son of L. Artorius Iunior, Lucius Artorius Moderatus. Moderatus declared himself to be the only legitimate successor, being the nephew and only surviving family member of the King and immediately declared himself to be Dux Brittaniarum. However, his claim was deeply disputed, with the nobility finding him extremely disfavorable, and creating rumors that he was an illegitimate son, or even that he had been born of out incest. When the nobility refused to acknowledge his claim, and instead demanded him to renounce his claims to being the Dux Britanniarum and recognize their preferred heir, a descendant of Ambrosius Aurelianus named Aurelius Caninus, and civil war broke out 3 years into his reign after Moderatus decided to use military force to coerce the rebel nobles into accepting his rule and to execute Aurelius Caninus. Moderatus met the armies of the rebels, backed by the armies of the same Saxons that his ancestors had attempted to drive out decades ago, and fought with them for a final time at the Battle of Camboglanna, where he was killed at the age of 33, and his army obliterated by the combined efforts of the nobility, whereupon power shifted from the Artorid dynasty to the Aurelianid dynasty, and all the remaining Germanic peoples were slated for eradication and expulsion for aiding Moderatus. Upon his death, he was transported from Earth to the land of the Kreuzung. Description: A man in his 30s, Mordrado is a rather short and wiry individual. He posesses dark, near black hair, brown eyes, and a thick, curly beard. When he arrives in the Kreuzung, he is dressed in clothing typical of later Roman soldiers, a tunic, chainmail armor and steel helmet, and armed with a Spatha sword.
