Colm is a helper. He loves helping people. That's why he trained in medicine, and went abroad with MSF to save lives. However, he discovered he's not the best with stressful situations, something that isn't good when you're doing surgery in a warzone. That's why he decided to become a university lecturer, eventually scoring a position at Columbia University. Life isn't perfect for him though, as his wife has recently filed for divorce, hence the trip to Banoi, to take him away from the stress of divorce proceedings and custody hearings.
