[indent]Carter Gregory Newton Jr., also known as CJ, is the only child of Juanita and Carter Newton. Along with Carter's paternal grandfather, the small family of four resided in a moderate sized home in Oakland, California from the time Carter was born up until he was ten years old. It was around that time that one of Juanita's distant relatives passed away; it turned out that this relative was very wealthy, and had decided to leave a good chunk of her money to Carter's mother. Rather than blow her newfound wealth on expensive material possessions, Juanita decided to use this money to fund her husband's street wear clothing line. Less than five years later, Carter Sr. had successfully built up his brand; once the money began pouring in, the man opened up multiple shops all around the country.

It was when Carter was thirteen years old that his family packed up their things and relocated to the other side of the country, just before his fourteenth birthday. His father moved them into the biggest house Carter had ever seen, and enrolled him into the prestigious King's Academy. While Carter was upset about leaving behind his friends in Oakland, it didn't really take much time for him to adjust to his new lifestyle; he was finally able to afford whatever his heart desired, whether it be the hot new pair of Jordan's that just hit the market or a some new games for his system. When the young man turned fifteen, however, he decided that he'd much rather earn his own money than depend on his parents to hand it to him; selling weed soon became his primary source of income. 

Despite always keeping up with current events and having very strong opinions, it wasn't until Carter's sophomore year of high school that he realized just how much of an impact he could potentially have, in both the black community and the United States as a whole. He'd already been addressing multiple controversial topics on his social media accounts through his spoken word videos, but ultimately decided to take things a step further. Now, the young man actively participates in the protests and rallies that are held within driving distance. He is also often seen hanging up flyers around the school that contain information on various social issues.
