[indent]Millie Jean has always been an introvert – while her sister loved attention, she hated having the eyes on her. Whenever she was around people for too long, Millie Jean would feel exhausted and overwhelmed – often leading to her crying in her bedroom and refusing to see anybody. She’s a very shy girl; being in front of people scares her because she hates the feeling of judgement and constantly feels like she’s being stripped underneath people’s eyes. By nature, Millie Jean is a vulnerable person who is unable to hide her feelings very much – she’s very sensitive and hates confrontation, making her a big push-over – and because of that, Millie Jean tends to shrink away from people to hide her insecurities.

Because of her shyness, Millie Jean grew a quiet disposition. The wallflower type, the girl was content to stay on the sidelines and watch everything happen in front of her. She tends to go unnoticed, being so quiet, and Millie Jean has become extremely observant of everyone around her. Her predilection for people-watching has made her very nosey when it comes to people’s business – she’s constantly trying to know what’s happening in other people’s lives, finding it fascinating in a way that only gossip is. As observant and nosey as she is, she sometimes stumbles upon secrets every now and again when someone talks too loud plus usually hears the rumors from the stem of the vine. For the most part, Millie Jean is trustworthy. If someone tells her something, her loyalty will keep her mouth shut. She loves hearing gossip, but she won’t spread it either because she knows she wouldn’t want that to happen to her either.

In that way, Millie Jean is very empathetic and kind. She has the virtuous ability to put herself in other people’s shoes and has a great capacity for kindness. Millie Jean wants life to be happy and will try to spread the love to others has much as she can. A happy life is the kind of life Millie Jean aims for – she’s a romantic. Not so much as in she loves romance, but that she wants the bigger than life scenes that she reads in books and sees in movies; she wants an idyllic world. Despite her want of it, Millie Jean’s philosophy leans more towards pessimism. She sees a happy world for everyone but herself.[/indent]

[indent]Millie Jean was born into a big family in Florida to Kenneth Nicholson and Maritza Bernal. She came into the world alongside her older twin sister, Kellie Anne, and was welcomed to the world by three older brothers plus her loving parents. Everything is perfect – the family life is happy, Millie Jean loves her family, and she’s a bit spoiled if she’s to tell the truth.

Millie Jean doesn’t really remember being all that happy. Even from a young age, Millie Jean would have torrential meltdowns and emotional tendencies that go way beyond being simply “sensitive”. While her sister was getting diagnosed with ADHD, Millie Jean was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and General Anxiety Disorder. Growing up, Millie Jean often had suicidal thoughts and self-harming tendencies that required regular visits to the psychiatrist and therapist, weekly. 

After middle school (spent in Silicon Valley), Millie Jean was uprooted with her family and taken to Florida to live in Crown Heights. It was upon moving there that Millie Jean’s condition got worse. The emotional strain of having to remake friends, acquaint herself with new doctors, and get used to a new environment caused her to have several more breakdowns with the added bonus of her becoming more reclusive in her school environment. Millie Jean had friends, but she became more tired and wouldn’t hang out with people much outside of school hours. The four years spent there were bad.

Over the summer before her senior year, Millie Jean tried to kill herself by taking some pills. She had to have her stomach pumped and stayed in the hospital for a week to recover. Though it was supposed to be kept quiet, it somehow got out in the small community they lived in and within the school. Going into the new school year, Millie Jean has to cope with the fact that it is pretty common knowledge that she tried to kill herself.
