Recent training, however, has started their work on hardening her edges and toning out her body. Calm, composed, and utterly sure of her convictions, she stands tall and with her head held high as she walks with the grace of the Light (in her mind, at least).
Personality
Having never ventured far from her home until recent years, it is easy to see where Rowena's naiveté and boundless optimism had risen from. To her, the world is simple, divided as it is between those who bathe in the warmth of the Light and share in Its endless bounty and those that don't. To her, it should be the most solemn duty and utmost joy of every being touched by the Light to spread Its love to those who are lost and misguided and to burn any amount of heresy that sought to diminish Its radiance. Of course, that is what she'd like to believe. Unfortunately, the more she learns of how cruel and muddled reality can be, the more she struggles to maintain her simple faith. A curious and inquisitive creature by nature, she constantly finds herself in situations that have no easy answers, and in a world of only greys, she is unsure of her place in it and of the wisdom of those who placed her on her current path.
Abilities
[sub]◇ Vitality 5; Though young, a life not oft traveling leaves one susceptible to new sicknesses and disease ◇ Strength 7; Daily training oft leads to results ◇ Finesse 6; Alas, aiming at rocks is a far cry from hunting actual prey ◇ Perception 6; Though natural curiosity lends to one's abilities to question the world, lack of experience still leads to a sieve too fine-meshed ◇ Intelligence 7; Years of study and a continued hunger for knowledge well hones one's mind ◇ Wisdom 3; But in the pursuit of knowledge, one must never forget the old adage of a cat's curiosity ◇ Faith 9; A life in service to the Light is all she asks ◇ Occult 7; And to do so, one must learn how to hunt down Its enemies[/sub]
Equipment
[sub]◇ [sup](3)[/sup] Spear A tool made of ash, steel, and faith ◇ [sup](3)[/sup] Flintlock Musket Well maintained and well storied ◇ [sup](1)[/sup] Dagger For Emergency Use Only ◇ Travel Cloak A mottled olive-green cloak, worn but freshly cleaned ◇ Journal One of many volumes, half written with rough details about a young woman's journey ◇ Stationary What every aspiring writer needs ◇ Quill ◇ Inkwell ◇ Loose Paper ◇ Charcoal ◇ Travelling Gear For a journey far from home ◇ Rucksack ◇ Clothes ◇ Homemade Rations ◇ Coin Pouch ◇ Priest's Pack To spread and receive the Light's blessing ◇ Censer ◇ Incense ◇ Holy Symbol ◇ First Aid Kit To dispense ready aid, no matter how gruesome ◇ Violin A stringed instrument to pierce the silence ◇ Raven Ring A marker for those belonging to a specialized order[/sub]
History
The Penitent Fellowship of Saint Poeticus, much like its sponsor nation of Perafidion, has a long and storied history. The order was established in the midst of a war to give succor to those who lay bleeding and dying on innumerable battlefields without the comfort of the Light, and has since related itself closely to all matters of life and death and as a place to leave all of one's past behind in service to the Light. Doctors and morticians, hospices and cemeteries, they dedicated themselves to the many transitions of one stage of life to the next and in doing so these Graveyard Knights attracted many lost and weary souls of the world. Rowena's parents were no exception, who in service to the church, had found each other and a family. An old beast does not forget its roots, however, and the Penitent Fellowship had always been a military order first and foremost. Alongside their fellows who sought to preserve the Light in all life and those who ensured that those whose Lights have dimmed made their way back to divine radiance, were members of the order dedicated to burning any elements that sought to diminish the Light, and by extension their fellows' holy work. These shadowed Ravens under the cover of the Light respected no boundaries, had no morals beyond Its ultimate preservation, and it was in Rowena that they found a viable candidate to join their ranks: excellent academically, inquisitive to a dangerous and aggravating degree, and most importantly, utterly and absolutely devoted to the Light. After realizing her potential, they quickly placed her under their own private tutelage, and it was with the Ravens where she spent the majority of her life. Her final task as an acolyte was to travel the lands under the tutelage of others, to be removed from all she had known and experience first hand the radiance of a world that was blessed by the Light, and what the world would look like without it. It was for that reason that she had found herself on a train to Temnorapool in order to find a tutor of her own, free from the ones pre-assigned to her by the Ravens over the past few years, a last test before she would be fully accepted into their order.
