Their coastal origins and settlement on Liberty Island sounds like they started on the opposite end of Brooklyn (Sunset Park, Red Hook, Gowanus, etc.) so it definitely works to have a friendly entity firmly situated on the other Brooklyn coast. The two would easily access each other via the Ocean Parkway, but now we're getting more into worldbuilding. Anyway, definitely cool w the Columbian League.
