Chuck activated his own Z-Ring and the Alakazam mega evolved into Mega Alakazam first neutralizing the sleep-inducing moves with Safeguard, then Ally Switch to swap places with Christa, combating the Mega Metagross in a battle of the minds, while Christa's Heavy Slam continued.
