This subsequently lead to his self-ascribed exile until he could return with restored pride.[/list][/hider] [hider=Interview] [h3][sub]Karr's upbringing was considered rather normal for a Mandalorian child at the time, born to two warriors of the Mandalorian clan Viszla. Karr trained extensively from youth in the art of war and was continually exposed to brutal training regimes throughout his youth and adolescence on Concord Dawn. As Karr grew up, he began to show an affinity for long range combat, and began to build a name as a skilled marksman among his clan. Karr's skill often placed him at the forefront of many Mandalorian competitions, where he'd best or at least compete with many of the best marksmen despite his young age. As the Mandalorians became dragged into the war between the Republic and the Sith Empire, Karr Viszla eagerly answered the call to join the war against the Republic, hoping to bring glory to his clan and his bloodline. Karr developed his skills as a warrior, both from afar with his sniper rifle and up close with a vibroblade. On many campaigns throughout the mid rim worlds, clan Viszla fought against Jedi and Republic soldiers alike, often working as a support for their allies in the Sith Empire. Karr's success in battle saw him become relied upon as a leader more frequently, his strategies often snatching the victory from the republic despite long odds to the contrary. Karr rejected the hierarchy of a typical military force however and refused to order his troops, rather suggesting a plan and leading those who would voluntarily follow him into battle. As the war dragged on and the Republic began gaining the upper hand on the Mandalorians, especially after the death of the Mandalore the Lesser, Karr and several others began to doubt that the Mandalorian forces were being lead by their desire for glory through battle; but instead by the motives of the Sith Emperor. As an alliance began to steadily feel like subjugation by the Empire, Karr's begrudging respect for the warriors of the Republic began to outweigh his disdain for the Empire. Towards the end of the war, a squad of Mandalorians was dispatched to the world of Rhen Var to assist with the Imperial invasion. Karr's squad of Mandalorians were essential to taking the planet's capital, a victory that was soon snatched away by Jedi and rallied Republic forces that served to quickly beat back the Imperial invaders. The squad of Clan Viszla was tasked with stopping a flanking force in a small village near the capital city in attempt to buy time to mount an effective defense. As scores of Republic walkers and commandos besieged the village, the Mandalorian defenders held out desperately despite the overwhelming lack of firepower. As swathes of Republic infantry fell at the outskirts of the village, an assault by several Jedi was finally able to break the defense and allow for Republic heavy infantry to push into the village. Karr watched from atop his ledge as his fellow Mandalorians fell to the Jedi, his sniper fire proved unable to create any gaps to allow his brothers and sisters any breathing room. As the Republic force finally turned their attention to him, Karr did what he'd sworn he'd never do, and fled. Karr believed his retreat ensured the death of his entire squad and after finally obtaining passage off the planet, he went into a self imposed exile. The shame of leaving a battle in such a dishonorable fashion left Karr to embarrassed to return to his clan, and Karr began taking mercenary contracts throughout the inner rim as the war came to a close. Many of these contracts he felt were below the standing of a once proud Mandalorian warrior, but Karr felt that if he could return his honor through his mercenary work, Karr could finally return to his clan. Over time, Karr's contracts began to include working with the Republic SIS and other affiliated groups, and on occasion brought him up against his former allies, the Sith Empire. In the mean time, Karr spent many of his credits on purchasing information about his home world, and eagerly awaited the news that the Mandalorians were to unite and fight for a return to their independence. During a contract on Nar Shaddaa, Karr had met a slave who was once an accomplished freighter pilot Resh Nak'lor with the smuggler group responsible for breaking the Mandalorian blockade. After hearing of his skill in besting the Mandalorians in the fleet action, Karr purchased his freedom and in return Resh began piloting Karr's ship in exchange for a modest wage. Karr and Resh became fast friends, both electing to exchange tips on starfighter piloting for combat lessons. Karr's travels eventually returned him to Nar Shaddaa, where a job with the crew of the [i]Raven Trespass[/i] on behalf of the Republic's SIS was swiftly beginning to go wrong.[/sub][/h3] [/hider] [/hider]
