I don't really like showdown battles either. I'm not a fan of how pokemon does their game mechanics, as a lot of stuff just doesn't  make sense and the game is kind of broken. so I prefer dicerolls [i]because[/i] it feels more like an rp instead of playing the games and having to understand the nitty gritty game mechanics.

Also, a lot of showdown battles are luck based too. Battling online, there is a huge element of luck so I don't see how the two are that different to be honest.

 Sorry, not trying to rock the boat, but from how I have played DND and other tabletop games, dice are a great way to earn wins.
