The chewy toad meat was good. It was something different from the cheap bread Ash had been subsiding on for weeks. That was enough to propel it from 'kind of bad' to 'good enough'. Again, she had left a small portion for Kur-Inuus, even after she had cooked enough meat for all of them. It wasn't a full meal, but it was enough to keep energy up. It was more calories than if she didn't eat any. Now was the time to cleave and chop some skin off. Carefully, she hewed ragged lines into the skin of the toad. Forming a rectangle of cuts, she carefully pulled the sheet of flesh off. After all, she didn't quite want to mess her hands up from whatever caustic goo remained. What use was someone who couldn't use their hands, after all. It wasn't cut very well, though. If she had a proper knife, if she had a river nearby, if she had this, if she had that. She was pretty much running off of nothing. More of an janky trapezoid rather than a rectangle. Still, it was a sheet that she rolled up into something she could easily carry with her. They had felled the toad in no time. The act of which made Ash feel incompetent. Severely. The three of them could barely manage to kill a simple goblin. Sure, it was their first time. But they were absolutely demolished by the goblin. It was horrible. And here came the knight, able to easily fell a massive toad in less than ten seconds. Incompetence thy name was Ash. Still, she followed these feelings. If it meant she would get money and a fraction of safety, she would easily lower her pride below the earth. Subterranean pride.
