P O K E M O N Story beats [TBE]

YC is a budding pokemon professional. Be it contests or training or becoming a pokemon doctor, your character wants to become something and make a name for themselves in the pokemon world. But before they decide to go off and complete their studies or commit to some kind of career, they want a full fledged pokemon journey. After all, isn't that the quintessential experience that all should get in the pokemon world? Not exactly. Going on a pokemon journey and trying to become well known as a trainer drains tons of resources, from the trainer needing to take care of themselves to taking care of their pokemon. Food, medicine, and shelter are only the basics. Being a pokemon trainer is work, and it's not always as easy as it seems. If anything, the life of a trainer can be likened to musicians or maybe even professional atheletes in our world. With tons of competition, only a few make it to the top, and that's not always by hard work alone. No, with the truly sucessful, there's always some element of luck involved, be it in battle or other circumstances that somehow pushed them ahead. Some trainers try to manage by working and attempting to sustain training on the side, but working to support yourself and your pokemon is exhausting, ontop of having to battle and train them too. Some people get lucky, they're blessed with enough fortune to get that cushy start to their career. Others struggle, finding roadblock after roadblock, and eventually have to wake up from their dreams, face reality. Occasionally though, trainers with less than adequate funds can fall through the cracks. Either through scholarships or sponsorships. With scholarships requiring the person being enrolled in some kind of school or study program, sponsorships by comparison allow much more freedom. Also known as when companies or individuals decide to foot the bill some--or all--for a person, trainers can actually get paid to battle, attend events, and live their pokemon dreams out to their hearts content. Some trainers, funded by Devon or Silph Co., just need to show up with some merch and their job's done. With that extra cash coming in, they can focus on being the trainer they want to be, and have themselves taken care of to boot. YC has, after applying, has received a sponsorship from the prestigious and wealthy Argyle Allister, an insanely rich individual who has generously decided to sponsor four trainers on their individual paths. Ultimately though these characters will be twisted into a story much bigger than themselves, their fates intertwined into one hopeless knot, all the while still trying to make their way to the top.
