But through him The Oasis was birthed. The name is fitting, a patch of fertile green in a desert of the desolate wasteland. In the beginning the lord was alone but soon there were those that arose to protect him and the Oasis: The Treeminders. They came from all walks of life and The Lord spoke to them and guided them and all was well, until He came. The Burner, The Betrayer, The Godkiller. There are no curses utterable that the Treeminder's could use to describe him. The Lonewanderer burned Bob to a charred skeleton and left the Oasis, and the world, to ashes. Their trees began to die and even the water turned to poison. But it was not the end. Though enraged and desolate, their trees dying, there was a branch of hope. A prophecy from Branchseer Poplar, that Their Lord would one day rise again, that a man would come to them, a saviour, though he spoke in blasphemous words. The Man In White. Dr Weston Lesko was fresh from his last attempt to save the wasteland. The giant-ant experiments had been a...mixed success. On the one hand he had gained great insights into the nature of FEV that could prove invaluable in the future! On the other hand he had created a new deadly breed of giant-fire-ant that now plagued humanity. But try, try and try again was his motto, so it was back to the drawing board and time for a new project. Lesko had discovered the Oasis almost by accident, he was conducting experiments with a nearby transmitter-tower when he saw the green in the distance and decided to investigate. He uncovered a local primitive religious tribe that had surprising wealth of potential resources. Once more some of them took him to be an almost messianic figure. Once the commotion had settled down Lesko was able to get some work done, though the group were initially wary of some of his methods, he was able to devise a method to extract safe drinking water from the surrounding trees free of any FEV taint. It was only then they allowed him to examine their 'god'. And the possibilities he saw were intriguing. In the years that followed the coming of 'The Man In White' the Treeminders grew, access to clean drinking water drew people from the surrounding areas. And it seemed preaching vengeance for a dead and abstract god proved more popular in the wasteland than peace for a living one. They would restore the Oasis, bring down any false idol and burn any sinful old-world tech from the earth. Leadership: Leader: Tree Father Birch Generally accepted as the leader of the group and respected by all, however while an authority on spiritual matters is not a very 'worldly' man and can sometimes be prone to leaving administrative duties to others and is prone to manipulation. Defender Of The Oasis: Branchtender Linden A former Brotherhood of Steel Outcast member, after being nursed back to health by the Treeminders he decided to join the Oasis and since then his tactic knowledge has proved invaluable to the group. While not as religious as others his experience makes him the de-facto authority in any military matters. Dr Weston Lesko Something of a divisive figure, a gifted scientist but with a habit of seeing only the bigger picture and having little regard the individuals as more than mere test subjects. He has provided the Oasis with safe drinking water and it is rumoured he may hold the secret to the resurrection of their lord. Economy: The Treeminders largely thrive of their own sufficiency. They live modestly of the fruits of the Oasis, occasionally their members are send out to forage supplies. The trees provide a supply of safe drinking water which is a valuable commodity for trading. Technology: Not much. The Treeminders as a rule espouse the use of technology instead preferring to go back to nature. There are exceptions though, they will accept necessary evils such as guns to the defend the Oasis and will allow Dr Lekso the use of some limited scientific equipment in order to provide them with safe drinking water. Recently the faction have started making use of bows and arrows in addition to guns, while obviously more primitive they have the advantage of a silent shot, being able to arc their missiles over fortifications and poisoning their arrowheads. They also employ the use of whistling-arrows to send messages without alerting enemies. Military: While The Treeminder's numbers have swelled in recent years they are still not a large or well armed faction, instead relying on more precision stealth and ambushes to achieve their aims. This is helped greatly by having a gifted Psyker among their number, helping them out manoeuvre their enemies and a former Brotherhood Of Steel Outcast as a tactician. They travel light and quickly, often employing snipers and long-bows to strike from a distance and are gifted in camouflage and tracking. However against more advanced technologies they are still out-gunned.
