In this world things aren't so simple. 

You do something nice for me and I might stab you in the back. I bake you cookies amd you might blow me off. You steal from me and I get the fall for it.
Now that's not to say that karma isn't a thing either, it's just that bad things can happen - especially when your dealing with witches.
