Unfortunately, though his intentions are good, he’s something of a meathead. A person who easily forgets commitments and fails to correctly assess his surroundings, landing him in far more trouble than necessary. Though, ultimately, he’ll thoughtlessly muscle through anyway. The strong and silent type, one who rarely bothers to engage his enemies in discussion, either with taunts or compliments, even when the fight could be ended simply with communication. He endures suffering without comment, and achieves victory without boasting. He’s also the type to quietly leave without saying goodbye regardless of the circumstances. Someone who will approach others with warmth regardless of their situation or social standing, though it’s more that he’s bad at reading the atmosphere. He has a soft spot for women. The knight he got along best with was his good friend Gawain, though he two ended up fighting at various points due to misunderstandings born of their mutual meatheadedness. Interestingly, Ywain is the only one who enjoys his friend's cooking. Though he was a knight of Camelot, he has little consideration for the authority of the king, simply using his position to fight evil and save the innocent. Despite being a knight almost on par with the greatest of Arthur’s round table, he wasn’t around enough to influence the course of the civil war, shifting his responsibilities. Someone who will happily serve as another’s protector, though listening and following orders is another matter. Of course, he will turn his sword against an unjust master. His wish for the grail is simply to accomplish more as a great hero.

A knight of the round table known for his friendship with Gawain. After a cousin told of his shared news of his humiliation at the hands of an enemy knight guarding a wondrous fountain, Ywain rushed ahead of the knights’ expedition to challenge the man first. He ended up crushing the knight, pursuing him to his home as the man fled on horseback. He was saved from the anger of the knight’s men by being gifted a magical ring of invisibility; while invisible, he glimpsed the lady of the manor and immediately fell in love. Ultimately, he took up the responsibility of the fountain’s guardian knight, at the same time marrying the man’s widow. Sometime after, a number of knights of the round table came to investigate the fountain. Though it could have easily been resolved with conversation, Ywain instead fought them, using the fountain’s powers to defeat all but Gawain and Arthur. After fighting Gawain for a full day, the two eventually reconciled, and Gawain convinced Ywain to return to Camelot for a time despite his wife’s misgivings. Ywain spent too long in Camelot, staying past his wife’s requested return date. When he realised this, he went insane and ran off to live in the woods for a while. While returning to sanity, he rescued a lion from its fight with a dragon - well, he intended to simply fight them both, but the lion was so grateful for being saved that it pledged itself to his service. Travelling with the lion, he engaged in various adventures, slaying giants, half-demons, and various knights. He even ended up fighting with Gawain once more, this time for even longer - though the two simply failed to recognise each other, and stopped fighting as soon as Ywain spoke to compliment Gawain’s strength, leading them to realise each other’s identities. Eventually, his adventures lead to a reconciliation with his wife, and a return to his duties guarding over the fountain.
Parameters STR: A ||| END: A ||| AGI: B ||| MAN: C ||| LCK: B Class Skills Magic Resistance: B Grants protection from magical effects, cancelling spells entirely rather than simply resisting their effects. Spells with a chant below three verses are cancelled, and it becomes difficult to be affected by High Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals. Riding: C An ability denoting the ability to ride various creatures and vehicles. Most vehicles and animals can be handled with above-average skill, though Phantasmal Species cannot be ridden. Ywain’s low rank despite his class is likely due to the various unfortunate fates of his horses as they were ridden into danger. He can fight on horseback and ride with some skill, but isn’t particularly good at ensuring they survive. Personal Skills Bravery: B The ability to negate mental interference effects such as pressure, confusion or fascination, with the bonus effect of increasing melee damage. Charging in to battle with dragons, giants and demon halfbreeds without the slightest hesitation, Ywain is unquestionably a slayer of monsters, primarily using skill of arms alone. Guardian Knight: B A skill that grants a bonus to defensive power when acting in defence of others. It is only a moderate boost in defensive power, but one that can be kept up for a greater amount of time. Ywain not only protected various people from monsters as he adventured, but also dedicated himself to the protection of Laudine’s fountain for three years, defeating many of Arthur’s knights as he acted in this capacity. Battle Continuation: C A skill allowing for the continuation of battle despite grevious wounds. A skill representing the mentality of one who simply doesn’t know when to give up. Deriving from Ywain’s battle with Gawain lasting multiple days, continuing to battle even as he continued to suffer injuries from his rival knight’s skilled blows.
Lunette and Laudine Rings of Love’s Protection Rank: C+ Type: Anti-Unit (Self) Range: 0-1 Targets: 1 Two magical rings, granted by the two most important women in Ywain’s life. Lunette granted him a ring of invisibility to hide from those searching for him, and Laudine, his wife, gifted him a ring to assist him in his defence of the fountain. These have been combined into one due to their similar nature, both based in their affections for Ywain as a selfless knight and protector, and the love he felt towards them both, especially his wife. The first ring creates a shell around the user, through which nothing can be perceived by any sense, though perception outwards on Ywain’s part is entirely possible. If the user remains still, there is absolutely no chance of detection, even upon physical interaction with the ring’s shell. One’s magical energy is hidden too while stationary, equivalent to a low-ranked Presence Concealment. Moving while invisible creates a distortion in the air that can be tracked, though it still serves the function of hiding Ywain’s armour and identity as it is the exterior, not the interior that is glimpsed. Similarly, magical energy is not hidden while in motion. The second ring similarly creates a barrier around the user, this time one of steel, the ring itself serving as a Noble Phantasm with the purpose of protection. A C-rank barrier that rejects all attempts at harming the user, though it will be destroyed after taking enough damage, regenerating over time depending on the supply of magical energy. These two shells become alternate forms that can be switched between by simply twisting the ring; if the stone faces in towards Ywain’s palm, he gains Lunette’s blessing, while wearing it facing outwards will grant Laudine’s. Invoking the true name of the Noble Phantasm allows both rings to be used at once, combining the enchantment of the rings; concealment and protection working together to displace one from the time axis to avoid an attack entirely. A temporary protection based on absolute avoidance, concealing one completely, so that even guarding against attacks originating from a higher order dimension is possible. A powerful enchantment that leaves one significantly drained of mana, but will protect from almost any attack. One can consider it the ultimate expression of love towards Ywain, protecting him as absolutely as he protected others. Rampant Arms Leo A Beast’s Promised Reward Rank: B Type: Anti-Unit (Self) Range: 1 Targets: 1 A Noble Phantasm representing Ywain’s bond with a Phantasmal Beast that Ywain rescued from its battle with a dragon. A beast strong enough that it was able to hold off a being as powerful as a dragon with no serious injuries, though not powerful enough to defeat it by itself. A Beast with intelligence enough to recognise true hostility and killing intent, and the ability to grasp the use of human tools - for example, gripping a sword in his mouth, though fighting with claws is more practical. Not a traditional mount, the beast fights alongside Ywain as a friend. The two have a strong bond of trust after various fights together, and are generally able to pick up on each other’s intent in a fight without much effort. It never occured to Ywain to name it, since animals don’t have names anyway. At least, that’s how Ywain’s simplistic thinking saw it. Rather than simply the ability to summon this Phantasmal Beast, the Noble Phantasm is ‘the certainty that if Ywain is in danger, the lion will appear.’ The two’s fates are intertwined and the lion will always protect his saviour, no matter the difficulty, so long as Ywain passes a luck check.
