Jphida is the first born into a normal, non magic family. She has two younger brothers (14, 10). Her father is the dominant figure around the house, which is not a good thing, to say the least. He is the kind of man to be abusive, physically and emotionally, very strict, very religious (Islam). Her brothers are superior to her, due to their sex, as costumed in Arabic families such as hers. Her mother was a ghost of a figure. she was present, and alive, but had nothing more to contribute to Johida's upbringing. 

When Johida was 16 years old, she realized she was a lesbian, and decided despite the risk on her life, to let her family know. They renounced her, and was thrown out of the house. She began working as a dish cleaner in a restaurant, and as payment received a room in the owner's house, Tal. Tal's intentions were not all too altruistic, and soon he began taking advantage of Jo. The moment she managed to find a new job, as a waiter in a bar in her city, she ran away from Tal. 

By the age of 18, she had been living on her own, working as a bartender at the very same bar, 'Hamozeg', that in her perspective saved her life. Her cocktails were so good, it began a known trend around Israel/Palestine to come to this bar and have her make the cocktail of your dreams. Soon, critics have written on her cocktails [i]"Addictive!" ; "Life altering!" ; "One sip, and your dreams come true!"[/i]
It drew a lot of attention to the bar, and to her personally. she began experiencing assassination attempts from relatives based on family's honor, after all, she was a shame to the Naser bloodline. This pushed her to leave the 'Hamozeg', and find a safer place for her. 

At the same time, she was approached by a fascinating woman, inviting her to Raindale. It was clear she had a magical talent with mixing liquids, and she was told she could harness this gift, and make more then pleasing beverages.
She packed her few self owned items, and moved to Raindale straight away, hoping to escape her family.

Her familiar is a mixing stirrer. Unknowingly, when she started working in the "Hamozeg" She found herself drawn to using one specific stirrer - a long (30 cm) thin pole, with a spoon on it's end, made of silver. When she worked as a bartender, she could swear she heard it whispering the amounts of liquids needed in a beverage:

Only when reaching Raindale, she understood it was a familiar. She made her proper contract with it, and now, it is part of her huge success with potions.
