To the public eye, being a Sterling is a blessing. We have potential and a potent lineage. We have fame and we have our family's fortune. To hate those things would make us ungrateful, wouldn't it? I thank whomever considers them a god among men for giving me a father that locked me in a trunk as a punishment to get over my claustrophobia and in return gave me a fear of drowning because I was left outside in the rain and the trunk slowly filled up to the rim. I would've died if it wasn't for the maid. I was only five. I want to thank such god, or goddess, for giving me a mother, who blames me for Alexander's death when she was the one that told me to give him this 'new' medicine. He had a seizure and choked on his own vomit. But, the story that is told is he had a sickness that escalated that night. I was only eleven. 

Somewhere deep in my stone cold heart, I wanted to be a mama's boy and yet she grew obsessed with bringing Alex back. Now my brother's soul is intertwined with a music box in the morning room. I want to thank them for giving me a fuck up of a twin brother that I actually can't help but care about. His bruises became my own, even if our parents knew I wouldn't disobey with such recklessness. I want to thank them, for a kind, sickeningly sweet, twin sister that is bound to get corrupted at this school and be the biggest pain in my ass. With thanks, I will hurt someone if they lay a finger on her. She is the last piece of light this forsaken family has. Imagine something happen to a heart so pure who is in a vessel with such amazing power beyond her comprehension? Yeah, I don't want to imagine it either.

I do not need anyone's pity or sympathy. I do not need to be liked. Oh, don't worry. I won't give you a reason to hate me, unless you deserve it. I prefer keeping my friends close and my enemies closer. I know my worth and yes, I am better than you because I believe I am. It starts with that belief that gets us anywhere. Why do you think my family is so high and mighty? Because they cared about people? That's not how you become known and it's that lesson I will keep as my motto.  My family is nothing when it comes to my own name. I will become a powerful warlock. Not as THEIR legacy, but as Caius. When that day comes, just deserts will be served.
