Backstory: Jacob was born the elder child of a Meowstic couple, with Sophia following him two years later. They lived in a forest town in Tere, near the land between the Vale and the rest of Creisal. Jacob’s parents ran a small hotel and made additional profits by selling supplies and equipment for traveling Pokemon. Growing up, Jacob and Sophia were each other’s best friends and sometimes frenemies, often teaming up when playing with other children or playing pranks on just about anyone. Jacob’s father pushed him to try and develop his gift of telepathy further; he was often disappointed when Jacob didn’t display as much power as he’d had himself in his younger years. His father often spoke of their pure Meowstic lineage with pride, which was supposed to help motivate Jacob. It didn’t work all that well.

The day after Jacob’s 20th birthday, he snooped through his parents’ belongings and attic, trying to figure out the meaning behind something his mother had said. He found evidence that she’d actually had a Delphox for a father. By itself, this wouldn’t have done much to Jacob’s life, but while he was looking at the evidence, his father found him and discovered that he’d been lied to as well. Jacob’s father confronted his wife about it, irrationally in Jacob’s mind, and drove her to leave home. This was the final straw for Jacob, who decided he’d had enough of his father, and he soon left home as well, Sophia coming along with him. They travelled throughout Tere and parts of Caelum and Mer, looking for their mother and learning how to survive along the way. After what he feels like was an exhaustive search, Jacob has begun entertaining thoughts that their mother may have gone to the Vale…

Because her father spent so much time trying to train Jacob, her mother spent time with her and encouraged her to learn through reading books and trying things out. After Jacob, Sophia’s mother was more or less her best friend.

On Jacob’s 20th birthday, their father gave him a Hidden Power TM in an attempt to draw out more of his potential power. To spite him, Jacob passed the TM on to Sophia, who tried it out and obtained Fire as her Hidden Power. The next day, Sophia’s father confronted his wife about lying and having a Delphox as a father, and this drove her mother to leave home. Sophia felt a hole form inside her heart, and when she learned that Jacob planned on leaving home, she left along with him. They travelled throughout Tere and parts of Caelum and Mer, looking for their mother and learning how to survive along the way. After a long and tiring search, Sophia has thought about convincing Jacob that they should stop and establish a life somewhere…
